so i rebuilt my motor and installed a 2.3 eagle stroker kit. now it is making some mysterious noise. it does not do it when i first start it up and run it for a while..it only makes the noise at idle. while i am driving it does not make the noise anymore. the engine performance is good...I have not gotten on it because like i said it is a newly rebuilt motor.

i am using 10w30 oil not synthetic.

the only thing i could think this could be and i am hoping it is, is the hydraulic adjusters..what else could it be

So while the car is running, sitting at idle it starts to make this noise. Pop the hood and listen closely and let us know where the noise is coming from.

Did you put in new lifters when you rebuilt it? Or did you do a bottom-end only build? If you have new lifters, did you place them in a vice to compress them? I do not think it would be the lifters, but there is a chance it is. Try and be very specific about the noise and where it is occurring since talking about noises over the internet can be frustrating for you and us.

it is making a sound like something is loose. I tried checking the valves and everything. i put my ear on the valve cover and the noise is loud from there. i do not understand why it would only make noise while at idle.

thats what i was thinking...also i notice that on my aftermarket oil pressure guage it reads up to 72psi on start up and when engine is warm it drops down to below 5psi at idle.

what is the normal oil pressure for a 99 eclipse GSX?
does the oil pressure change with a stroker kit?
