i recently installed a new deck from best buy and i had to rewire the stock harness to the new cd player and wen i was finished the audio worked perfect. i could hear cds and the radio then i went to try the aux input with my psp and it worked too. about halfway through the song i pulled the aux cable out and turned off the car. later that day i went to try a cd and the audio was dead. completely not even radio static. the deck works perfect visualy but nothing come out of the speakers at all.:toobad: it rele sucks and i need help.

Hmm.. The only thing I can think of that would cause the speakers to have no output is that you fried the internal amp on the cd player somehow.. It can be caused by leaving your cd player turned all the way up when you first start the car and it comes on blasting, or could be caused by an internal malfunction in the first place, or could be caused by a sudden power kill to the cd player itself (E.G hooking up to a car battery and then suddenly removing the power source) this does not include turning your car on and off.. I cant say if theres anything else that could have caused this but I have had a few friends that had the exact same thing happen to them, one with a Pioneer, and one with a JVC.
Can you be more specific with the brand and how you wired it as the other guy said?

the cd player is an Insignia NS-C3111. when i wired it up i cut and spliced the factory harness and used the crimp caps to connect the wires while looking at a wiring diagram showing each + and - connection and where it went. and i simply matched up the connections and the deck turned on and worked perfectly. is there any way to test the speakers?

Yea you can by taking them out and hooking them up in someone elses car and see if you get any sound.
Now with that being said though, do you really think that all your speakers went out at once? No sarcasm intended man, but I would guess the problem is in the headunit. If you could take it back to best buy and explain your problem, all you will have to do is unplug the headunit from the plug in the back of it and exchange for a new one. That is, if its under warranty, or if they offer exchanges for at-home installs.
I know of no known way to test the internal amp of the headunit without having a voltage meter that you would connect to each speaker output. A speaker output on the cd player wires are the color matched pair of wires, the positive being solid and the negative being solid with a black stripe. If I remember correctly the front sets are white and grey, and the rear sets are purple and green. If you get little or no voltage then chances are it is the internal amp is toast. I would not recommend attempting this though without proper tools and know-how.

Also, the symptoms you have, (no sound whatsoever) pretty much points toward an internal amp problem. Trust me.. one minute you could have sound, next minute nothing..
Heres what you can do to help us with your problem. Can you use ms paint.. or even just a list.. of EXACTLY how you have it wired from deck to factory wires. The people at best buy should have acknowledged you to get a wiring harness, which eliminates you having to CUT your factory plug and play guessing game at what wires to put to what. With a wiring harness, you color match from cd player to harness then plug it into the factory plug. So showing exactly what you did may be a little work.. but it will help us determine what could be a potential problem.

this weekend has been really busy for me but i managed to take a look at it and write it all down and do a rough sketch on paint. this shows the factory harness and the crimp connections to the cd player harness

I looked over your wiring, it all seem fine unless you somehow exposed one positive to a negative by improper crimping (speakers only {deck positive and negative would fry the whole cd player}) but that is highly unlikely. Anyways, since its not your wires, and not your speakers, you know what it is man.. Take it back to best buy and exchange it for a different one. Now one more thing though, I am not sure if the 1gs have a factory amp, BUT if they do then that could also be the problem. Although I have left you in the dark with testing methods, you CAN test the amp or at least find out if the amp is the problem by taking one of your speakers and connecting it directly to a positive and negative of the cd player output (BE CAREFUL).. if you have sound then the problem lies in the amp. If still nothing, then your headunit is at fault internally.

From what I searched on the forum the 1g eclipses came with factory amps, which are also located under your passenger seat like the 2g's.. Verify this before you try to test the headunit straight to speaker because if you DONT have a factory amp then there is no reason to do this test.. Ok.. Easiest way I can think of.. take the 2 white wires from the cd player wire harness one has a black stripe symbolizing negative, connect them to a speaker carefully without touching them together (obviously).. Just to be on the safe side tape off the wires you take them off of also. K, now that everything is safely taped off, turn on your cd player.. That one speaker should play sound.. If you have sound like I said, then its your factory amp at fault. If still no sound.. it points directly to your headunit at fault.

one quick thing too. i noticed when i looked back over everything that i had leftover wires that werent connected to anything. the wires were as folowing- white w/blue stripe-black w/blue stripe-white w/red strip-black w/red stripe-white w/black stripe- green w/white stripe. anything these loose wires couldve caused?

Were they exposed wires or were they taped off/capped so no bare wire was exposed? If they are exposed wires they could have definitely caused the problem if the problem is the factory amp.. Since they were not connected to the cd player, there is no way they could have caused the problem if it is in the cd player.. If these wires were not exposed they could not have caused the problem.
In your case though, it worked fine for a while with no problems so like I said I bet the problem is in the cd player. If you had a problem with wires it probably would have fried something right when you first turned it on.. which it didnt. Best buy is known to carry cheaper products like Insignia, Dual.. etc These cd decks are known to not last very long.. some last for a lifetime, others last a week.. Some will stop playing cds, some will stop lighting up.. etc
I think after you do the test, if I am right about the cd player.. you should go up there and complain and get them to swap it for a new one. I understand completely that you want to check everything before going up there so go ahead and test it out..if you get no sound.. its without a doubt the cd player.. Good luck man.

No problem man I hope I helped ya, let us know the results of testing the amp and cdplayer.
