When putting my car back together we were missing a couple things so I decided to make them out of carbon fiber instead! :) I figured it was better than going to the dealership. Might as well use what is at my disposal eh? Not the best picture but you get the idea. I think i am going to look over the bracket situation under my hood now since this turned out well.

Oh, it is the fuse box bracket, in case some don't know. ;)

That looks rad. How did you make that without the original piece?

I used the bracket from a friend's car and made him one also for the trouble. :) He was happy and I now have a bracket. Right now I have zip ties holding it to my intercooler pipe! Horrible.:(

OK I'm very curious about how to go about carbon fiber fabrication. Do you buy a kit or buy the materials seperate and make your own pieces?

Use to make and repair surfboard back in the 80's and when I got into imports I decided to make stuff for my car and it led from there. Has probally been about 3 1/2 years since I have quit my former employer and have supported my family doing this....of course my car never is complete and stuff is always missing out of it...but there are some really nice rides out there sporting our stuff that get mag exsposure, etc.
Didn't buy a kit, just research the net and you will find much info on this and such. Just gotta' take the plunge and spend some $$$ and get to fabricating....you will make mistakes.
And I will be the first to say that this has been much harder than working for someone else, alot harder...but more fullfilling!

That piece looks like it attaches to the left fender and supports the fuse box.
I would love one once I replace all the broken crap on my stupid car. Looks sweet Leo!

Yep, left side if you are looking at the engine. Thanx for the props. I will post the battery tray later...of course it can not be seen at all but that wasn't the idea anyhow. I need to replace mine since it is gone and my new Optima is flopping around!!

What are the chances that you could make some more? I'd love to have a couple different carbon fiber engine pieces to match the hood.

Well I do not want to get in trouble on the board.... I was just thinking of only making mine and Mortis' for now. But I did see something VERY similar on ebay tonight. ;) eh-hmmmmm.
Also, just email me or PM me about any "sale" type things. I would hate to get banned now that my car is running again after such a looooong down time, and I will be needing tuning help, I forgot everything I freakin' learned!!!

How many coats of resin do you use for something like that?

NONE! :) This is a compression mold. Most of the resin is compressed out during the cure...think "dry fiber". Very low resin to fiber ratio, ery strong too!

I have always loved your poducts...it's just a shame I can't afford any of them.

Have you ever looked into making products with no other reason but for a weight reduction? I could careless if I see it or not, just want the car lighter.

Just about everything I make with a few exceptions is a REPLACEMENT and they are lighter than stock. No enough to write home about, but in all seriousness you can't beat just gutting the car out for weight savings, but I see what you are saying, be light, yet STILL HAVE the civilities of comfort in the cockpit. So far just the armrest, dash cover and airbag are overlays. Pretty much all else is replacement.

say i have an old broken carbon fiber hood, would it be possible to take peices of that and make sidemarkers for my car with them? what do i have to do in order to "bend" the CF?

i think its similar to fiberglass, once its formed , it's formed.

ok, then i guess ill just find sections that are bent to about what i need and cut it down from there. also, are there any special precautions i need to take when cutting this stuff? any special tools?
