ok .... my car was smoking badly after my rebuild so I tore it apart and found this......

what would cause this ... the engine wasnt even broken in yet..

im having problems uploading the picture... its in my profile ...... on here

look a little bit closer between the top rings ( espically the massive chunk missing) on the left piston...

Adam

well unless those pistons are coated it has WAY to much blow by for a new setup... the blackness should not get past the first ring for awhile..

was the block honed or bored.. and are the rings gapped right?

double check your piston to wall clearence and also check your ring end gap. May be caused by detonation (premature ignition)

by the way I found out that eveything was in spec... the old ones are going back (I got them from a guy on ebay) has over a 1000 positive feedback

Defiant is spot on! i did this to four pistons on two different builds, didn't realize the my stand alone was giving 6 of its cells at 36 degrees advance around 18 psi / 6425 rpm and it happened in an instant!

thanks... it must have been too much boost ( it spiked to 28 psi ) when I forgot to hook up the wastegate....

oh and the camera is actually good its a 3.2 mega pixl but the pictures were way too big so i had to edit them....

well actually I have a new set of pistons on the way... I'm also getting the ARP head studs and mitsu metal headgasket....

and I was really surprised that the old 14b was able to put out 28 psi..... (and it wasnt me that didnt hook up the wastegate......this guy that helped me do the rebuild was like .... let me show you something ....he popped the hood and disconected the wastegate ( I had no Idea what it was at the time) and went for a ride ... smoked a old school vette...) came back....

I sure wish I had a tools then I wouldnt have to let people that have no clue what there doing work on my car...now I know why he has put 6 engines in his talon...in under a year...

Excuse me? You let someone who has replaced 6 motors in his car touch your newly rebuilt car? Are you insane?
Let him do that sh!t on his 7th, 8th and 9th motors.

I cant believe you le tthat happen, to a new rebuilt motor, with zero miles on it???
God damn that gives me the chills

WOW, that guy is cool, ROFL. Was this guy that worked on your car a retard? Just goes to show you that some people are just plain idiots. Unbeleivable!

You should make this fool pay for your new motor.

I got my new 1g pistons today.... $33.00 each with rings
and the camera is a Kodak DX3500 it must have been the editing software....
