Hi all! Not sure where you want this post. Just wanted to let you know i just released a website guide on how to make bling bling out of ugly metalparts commonly found under the hood of most cars

I have always wondered this... but WHERE do you get the polishing compound (wax), the brown and white stuff?

Another question. How do you get down in crevices or "gullies"? I'm looking at the Thermostat housing and I just can't figure out how you get down there without some sort of tool...

How do you guys get down in those cracks and crevices?

Boy, that seems like quite a bit of work. But the results are very impressive. Strong work.:thumb:

Anyplace where they sell buffing pads for bench grinders and such should have them. I know for sure that Home Depot and Harbor Freight carry them. There are different compositions for different types of metal.

I know for sure that home depot carries the polishing rouge you are talking about. There are usually in blue paper wrapped tubes and have a wide assortment.

Here are a couple of good places:

I've personally used stuff from caswell and had pretty good results:

I've done a fuel rail now too that looks better than the intake manifold.

It's a time consuming process with all the prep, especially with cast aluminum pieces.

Nice work without using a buffer... just an electric drill and some time.... I'm inspired.

On a side note, you could have filled the 3000 in with a black epoxy (or color to match the engine bay color scheme) prior to the sanding. Then sanded it flush with the metal and it would have looked like little jewels after you polished them.... in my oppinion anyways. Either way though it looked really nice.

How do you guys get inside all those crevices without tools?!?!

i used a dremel some, but i dont like dremels that much because the have such weak power so in my opinion they arent that great when you need controlled rpm, but thats just from my experience and i may suck at dremels =)

Anyway, i built my own tool for this one, i glued wetsandinpaper to a 3 inch long stick with the right diameter - the result was quite good :rocks: A little creative use of stuff laying around the garage can do the trick sometimes!

have a nice weekend / zooloo
