I was just wondering if it would be a bad idea to polish stainless steel before welding it together? Im currently building a manifold and it would be less time consuming if i polished it now than later.
Thanks for any inputs.

It definitely would depend on the skill of the welder and the type of welding that's being done. If they heat up the thing it will discolor pretty badly. If I were you, I would polish it as best I can before welding and then just do it a one over after it's all welded together.
