Resolved My latest stupid question - stud on motor mount bracket?

It's been bugging me for years. There is a stud sticking out of the 1G block between the water pump and the power steering pump. What's it's purpose other than skinning knuckles and making it difficult to get the front cover off. Been planning on cutting the threaded part off for years but never got around to it.

Isn't it a point for attaching the front cover? Been many years since I've taken a front cover off by I believe my memory serves me correctly

If im understanding you right, its for a bracket that goes from there to the motor mount.
