I need to know how to get the timing cover off. Do you lower the engine and get to the bolts underneath that hold the engine mount bracket or can you raise the engine above the car to get them off? I just don't want to raise it too high. How much give do you really have when you remove the passenger side motor mount?

Please help. Who has actually done a timing belt job on a 420a? I have a 96 Talon 420a. I've been stumped for a few days. I have the engine jacked up as high as it can go. Any higher and the engine is lifting the car off the jack stands. Not good. There's just not enough room to take those long bolts out of the motor mount bracket that is connected to the timing belt cover. It has to come off though to get the timing cover off. What am I missing? I have attached photos. The one that is impossible to get to is in the back. No mechanics want to work on it and/or they all have retired.

This is one of those 420a jobs that will try your patience. I have replaced the timing belt in my 420a without removing the engine. I had to jack the engine up as far as I could with the car on jack stands, then moved the engine up and down with a floor jack with the front mount bolt removed. If I remember correctly the engine could be rotated forward and back a bit with the front mount bolt out, but be careful with this. I think I also disconnected that bolt holding that tubing in place so I could move the tubing forward and back slightly to allow for that engine mount bolt to be removed. Even then the head of the bolt scratched the wheel well there when it came out. It was a real fight during the entire process on quite a few of the bolts that need to come out but it is possible. Also I removed the power steering pump mount bolts and moved the entire pump out of the way which helped with access. See photos below.
