My Infinity CD player wont pull in a CD, what can I do?

Hey all,

I had a CD in my player, and ejected it normally. Now when I try to insert a CD, it won't try to grab it. What happened? When I select CD on the Infinity unit, it says "No Disc" on the LCD screen and I hear the motor going that pulls/ejects a CD. Then it stops and I get an "E" on the screen. Even when the motor is going, if I put a CD up to or somewhat into the slit it won't try to grab it or pull it.

If I manually push the CD as far in as it will go (as an experiment ), it still won't pop into place but pressing eject will actually eject it back out.

Is there some kind of sensor that might have got messed up, which is why the motor works but it won't pull in a CD? What can I do to fix it or workaround this problem? I hope I don't have to replace the whole unit.

When I lived in Cali, there was a place you could ship your CD changer to and they would fix it for around $30.00
I want to say their name is RPM or something like that. I'm sure there is a place where you live you can ship it to to have it fixed, should come with a 1 year warranty.

I had the exact same thing happen to me about 3 months ago. I took the radio apart but never found out exactly what was wrong with it. Just go buy a new aftermarket or used stock unit off the Trader.

Yeh. Pulling the power plug _might_ get it to "reset" (make sure you have your security code, first), but your best bet is probably to round up another from here, eBay or the Trader.

If you want to open it up and fiddle with it, the top cover just snaps on, the face is held by two screws inside the unit, and the CD player is held by a couple more.

Where do I get the code from? And would disconnecting the battery do the same job as pulling the plug from the unit (so I don't have to remove it to try)?
