I think this is my first post ive been reading allot and learning allot, I would like to say this place is great!! Now for my question. I have a 1995 gst 160k miles never been rebuild. I picked it up few months ago was going good I changed the bad turbo and put some bolt ons, Catback, hard pipeing,bov,255 fuel pump,k&n,..ect.. the car was stock with a b&m short throw... I spun a bearing bla bla bla I am about to send the block off but...... I found a 97 fully build motor with Wiesco 8 5 1 compression pistons Eagle Rods Eagle crank new bearings, oil pump Greddy Kevlar timing belt and gears TOP END port and polished head 5 angle valve job crower springs and retainers HKS 272 cams
I talked him down to $2000.. Would I have to change any of the sensors if its a 97 and my car is a 95 I think the cam sensor is different is there any thing I should be worried about be for I spend the cash and not just rebuild mine.

Thank you for takeing the time to help me and every one you guys are great.

Does he have proof that the engine has in it, who built it,etc? As far as the wiring it is possible, i am running a 97 engine in my 95, only difference is the cas.
By cas do you me the car it self. I think the 95/96 have a different cam shaft sensor.

If you use the head from the 95 engine it will all hook up with no mod. I looked for weeks hoping someone else had done a writeup on a 97 engine in a 95, but had no luck. I ended up boing by how the guys use a 1g cas in a 95. This is what I came up with and it has been working great for me, use your own sense though I cannot be held reliable for any problems if you use this method.
If you want to use the 97 head and cas you will need to wire in the 97 cas plug into your harness. The good news is the wire colors match. .The wire connector is different so you will need to get one from a wrecking yard to plug in the wires. The difference in the sensor is that it gives an opposite pulse fromconnect plug wires from what the 95/96 cas does. You will have to swap your plug wires around. Swap cylinders 1 and 4 into the coil for 2 and 3,swap plug wires from cylinders 2 and 3 into the coil for 1 and 4. I am running link so I had the convieance of selecting non 95/96 cas dirrectly through the ecu.

That's what I came up with too. I dropped my block off at the shop hope to put eagle rods with the 2g pistons to make it stronger we will see thanks for your help.

Got it all running not bad for a week of work after I get off from my day job. I did have to swap spark plug wire but not injector wires.

When I swapped injector wires it ran like crap. I'm ordering dsmlink to day. It kind of idles weird. I hope it will clear up that issue... I am running HKS 272's.

I've adjusted the idle screw to run at like 1k but it will go from 300-1500 rpms.
