My first motor swap

Ok so I'm in the process of getting my 7 bolt rebuilt but in the meantime I am dropping another motor in this weekend. Does anyone have a step by step guide or write up to help me with my first motor swap and also what tools would I need? Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

Also the motor hasn't been takin out yet so I would need to remove and install the other

A cherry picker and all your basic hand tools. He is right buy a service manual And " use it" Im pretty sure one of the first things you learn from this website if you actually use it fir research is that you need a service manual.

It seems alot harder to do than it looks. Piece of advise, bag and label every thing you take off.

Ok yea I plan on buying one but I just wanted to get my car running first but I guess I'll be getting one before then, thanks for the advice

Abriged version. Drain all fluids, disconnect heater/radiator hoses, unplug all sensor connectors running to engine and transmission, remove front cv axles ( I ususally disconnect the lower ball joint and lower suspension bolt for the wishbone, It can be done removing the upper ball joint and tie rod). Unbolt the downpipe from turbo, disconnect the 3 transmission mounts and 1 engine mount, unbolt the clutch slave cylinder and line if 5 speed, I like to remove the hood and take out the engine and transmission as one. Others might have a different way but that should give you an idea.

Im glad I could help you out. You might need to take the lower cross member off to put the engine back in but I usually don't have to for removal.
