first motor swap

I bought a 90 Tsi for $350 and doing a motor swao do to block damage.I'm putting a stock motor back in. It's running but it almost sounds like it has a cam job in it. Everything seems to be timed. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Yeah, unfortunately, that is a very vague statement/question. In order to actually answer that question, someone would need to be there. As far a answering your question as it is, anything is possible. Make absolutely sure that your cam timing marks line up perfectly, even one tooth off can/will cause noises/issues. I know this probably doesn't help at all, but it is all I can give you. Good luck

He is right, you're not really telling enough for an educated response from one of us.
I can simply state the following...
Timing is everything, be sure it is perfect. Also, im not sure if youre putting in a rebuilt, zero mile engine or if you have a used one that you are just swapping.

Thanks for the replies peeps. I found out that the coil pack was shot throwing every thing off. it was only running on 2 cylinders. This is not my first dsm, but it is the first 1 that I'm trying to do everything 2 myself.
