I'm going to check out a 1997 Gs-t on Saturday. It has 97,167 miles on it and it's a 5 speed; bone stock. It's up for $6500. Is that a good deal? Anyways, I was wondering what stuff I should look for like any signs of problems or anything?

Hopefully I can get this car cause I drive my mom's 96 Integra SE cause I crashed my 89 Corolla because I was a stupid wreckless teenager. I'm still a teenager but I've learn my lesson, 7 staples in the head and bruised ribs. I might be joinning the DSM community soon. First mods, DSMTuners.com stickers that I've been waiting to put on something. I'll post pics if I get it. :dsm:

If it's in good shape it's an ok price, I think. I'd definitely try to talk him down though.

Ask if timing belt (TB) ever broke (and got bent valves) or if ever had a valve job. How many miles ago was the TB last changed (need to change every 60000) and what other TB parts were replaced (eg. tensioner, pulleys, B belt). Water pump ever changed? Does coolant look normal (not foaming, dirty, oily). Does A/C work? How old is battery? Does exhaust have white or blue smoke? If stock radio, make sure you get the first power on "code". Are tires wearing unevenly? Move the top of tires in/out to check for loose lower/upper ball joints (same side to side for tie rod ball joints). Has car had lower lateral arm replacement recall done? Are headlight lens foggy? Start from stop in 2nd gear to check if clutch slips. Do wheels/steering wheel shake when brakes applied? Any CV joint noise when turning all the way going 1 mph in a circle each way? Everything work? Ever been in an accident? Check for crankwalk on left turns (search forum for how to check). Is the jack/lug wrench and spare still there? Is the gear shift sloppy? Are all the tires in good shape and the same size?

That should keep ya busy and impress him like you know what you're doing :thumb:

Yeah I'm probably going to try and talk him down maybe $1500 at the most. Thanks for all the things I should check and ask about. That really helps. I appreciate it. :thumb:

Well I just got back from checking her out and she is pretty damn sweet. TB changed at 65,000, no leaks, tranny is good, made the left turns and no sounds, turbo it good and everything is nice. I'm picking her up on Tuesday for $6000. Yay! :dsm: :thumb: I'm offical now.
