My engine is out of my car due to a broken bolt that I had to drill and tap. It has a coolant leak that I need to diagnose. It's coming from the timing side so it is possibly the water pump. The guy before me has only seriously 2 bolts in that plastic timing cover. It needs to be fixed. Meanwhile I'll be replacing all my motor mounts to Prothane inserts.

I was considering removing my balance shafts but if I do that, what all new gaskets will I need to COMPLETE the job because I'm pretty sure I have to remove the whole oil pump assembly plate. I will also be replacing my water pump, also what gaskets do I need. If you understand I want to order everything at once to get the job done and not make it last weeks and make 4 different mail orders. A list of gaskets will work too. I think I'm over thinking this but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks.

The bolts holding the cover on are personal preference. I hate trying to pull all 10 out each time I gotta pull the cover off. I personally have 3 holding my cover up. That's it.

As far as gaskets go, you gonna need a water pump gasket (which will come with the new water pump (it should)), oil pump (front case) gasket, and a oil filter housing gasket. That should be it.

Ok cool. I just ordered a whole gasket kit from Parts Dinosaur and it has every gasket from the top of the block down, excluding the head gasket. So I'll be good.

I just used an oil pan gasket and had a bunch of issues with leaks. Removed the pan made sure the flange was flat with a straight edge and used ultra grey rtv. No leaks now. I won't be using a gasket ever again.

Might also recommend the moroso oil pan stud kit. I found it very easy to strip out holes especially in the aluminum rear main and front cover pieces.

I read that you ordered a gasket kit but, for the future.

A water pump should come with the gasket and o-ring required for the install.

You can buy a Fel Pro kit from Advance Auto that includes all the gaskets for removing and refreshing the front case for about $13. This is a steal. I don't have the part number with me, but if you would like it I will go dig it up. Then all you would need is the eliminator kit, a turbo return line gasket, and some grey RTV for the oil pan.

Honestly, if you are going to be pulling stuff off, you may as well replace it with new units for piece of mind. Topline waterpump comes with the gasket and o ring. OEM oil pump can be had for roughly 280 with gears. I got my parts through STM.

Other than that, doing the whole gasket kit works well too and you shouldn't have any more leaks after that hopefully.

Yea, I thought about that but I'm just trying to get the motor in my car running good and I'll be building another 6 bolt over the winter which will have everything brand new.

Didn't know this... if you could grab that part number.
