My dog ate my fuel pump!

No seriously. this is the second walboro 450 I've purchased and the second time something has gone wrong. guy packaged it in a padded envelope and shipped it via fedex.. dropped it in front of my door on my porch and by the time I got home I had a pump itself with absolutely no wires but the install kit is intact..

my question is.. is there any way to save this? the nipple is still there and in good shape but the wires themselves are gone so far back I'm not really sure what I can do with this.

Dam that suks man. My dog ate my sons Christmas coveralls last year......but they were repairable.

I popped those caps off underneath (that was fun) and it looks like they are soldered ends on.. so I might have to go that route but I'm not real comfortable with a soldering iron at all. Torch? absolutely. Hammer? lets break stuff. anything that requires any level of delicacy or patience? I'm out. I work at a junkyard all I know how to do is destroy .

Soldering is very easy, just preheat the wires slightly and it helps the solder run through all the wires. Make sure to shrink wrap seal the wires since it is in the fuel compartment.

I recently ordered a few of these I doubt that they are fuel resistant but I bet you could always get fuel resistant viton heat shrink over it as a double measure.

Being that it sounds too inconvenient to have to look into a third pump, I say sell the dog and get a new one.. Problem solved

Can't get rid of her. She's a bit of a rare breed. Fedex delivered another package today.. and She didn't eat it. but it was in a box instead. I'm thinking leaving a padded envelope on the ground around her isn't a good idea. but shes only a baby.

A good soldering iron is really important, you want something that gets good and hot. Proper technique is also a factor obviously. I had an older weller soldering station for years, which was ideal for what I was doing at the time. Industrial unit. After it met its end, I decided to try a butane powered unit, and love it. Its not that expensive either. Kicks ass and no wires. Check out the "Power Probe". Awesome little unit. Plenty of heat for good work. Not going to hold up over time for daily use but for small stuff from time to time, its perfect.

Solder iron but practice on something first. Then invest in a kennel sounds like it'll pay for itself.

Put red pepper in a empty padded bag and it shouldn't happen again.
When the neighbors dogs would get into our chicken coup and kill a chicken, we would cover it in red pepper and let the dog have it. It stopped wanting chickens. My dog kept eating my dam Styrofoam faucet cover outside so I did that to it. He chewed on it one more time and now leaves it ALONE . Not trying to be mean but it teaches. She's a cute dog!
Joe if you cant save that pump I can solder it up for you, shoot me some pictures of what you can see now.

Hell Sheri hates the dog. but. since Erza's parents are both over 160 pounds all I need her to do is love and protect my daughter, which she is very, very good at. Will do Marty! I'll text you some pics.

Thank you EVL! I'll keep it in mind if I attempt it. I might just ship it out to marty since there's a pile of parts I've been meaning to send to him anyway.

Brian - She's on a long lead now strapped to a tree. boxes don't get touched for whatever reason. but I'm definitely go to try some pepper on a padded envelope and hopefully that'll solve the problem moving forward.
