So...one boring day i decided to get my ass off the couch and do something with my car. After reading some how-to's on VHT niteshades i went to canadian tire to pick up some VHT niteshades. I picked up black and red because i planned something different.. So here's how it happened. i used acetone and got rid of all the dirt and grease on my tail lights, the TALON that was written in black also came off with the rest. I masked off everything except the amber part of the taillights and the TALON. I did about 4-5 coats of the black niteshades. After that i wanted to see if my amber lights could still be visible, so i turned on the blinkers to check and it was perfectly visible :). So after that i masked off all the amber part so the TALON is the only surface that is paintable. I used the red vht niteshades and did as many coats as possible. And to end it all i clear coated everything about 4-5 times. The total cost of this was about $40 CDN and i think it was worth it hahhaha.

Thought id throw in a before and after kinda thing

I did that same thing to my old Talon about 5 years ago. I was telling Bud in another thread I was planning on doing this again to my current Talon.

I did the same thing a few weeks back, except I went all black (minus the reverse lights of course). Also, instead of using the red nite shades, I just picked up some automotive paint that was the closest match to my actual paint color. It was a royal pain in the ass taping off the "talon" but I think it came out pretty well.

Me and my buddy were going to do this exact same thing to his Talon. I just traded him my all tinted tails, and had plans of painting the "talon" letters sometime soon. You guys are all idea stealers. :p

looks wayyyyy better than the amber did, i'd black out the little trunk trim around the LP too, but that deff. gave it a nicer more aggressive look.

you think taping off TALON is a pain, try taping off the ECLIPSE its so much smalller and way mor of a pain, i will neverdo it again LOL

I hear ya man. Sitting there with blue tape and a razor for about an hour and a half was definitely not fun. I actually took that whole reflector section and both tails out to paint them. I couldn't imagine trying to do it while they were still on the car.

thanks everyone, 10fold are those ford probe gt rims??? ### if they are we match hahahahahha except i painted mine black w/ red lip.

Do the 2G talons have 3 lights on each side like the 1Gs do? I remember getting pulled over because ONE from ONE side was out. Talk about stupid.

Really like what you did to the taillights in dividing them up. I think the red on red is to much. Great job.

:thumb: I like it. Everyone here in Germany has amber turns and I think they are just ugly. Making them invisible really cleans it up I think
Have them work out a trade with some US members. Most of us feel our lights are bland.

Nice job dsmAB, that's a big improvement over the stockers, plus you won't call for attention from the fuzz!

You would think doing it this way would keep cops off your ass, but all you have to do is run into that one jerk cop and you'll still get hassled for them. One of my buddies did the same thing as the OP (minus the red "Talon" lettering) and still got a fix-it ticket for it. We just traded taillights for the day so he could pass it off though. ROFL
