did you put any protectant on it?
if not, thats why its chipping
i suggest you goto one of your local hardware stores and ask them for clear spray polyurethane with UV protectant (to keep from fading from the sun)
that should seal 'em up, and you might wanna wax them for a shine a few days after

hm. do they make a black color in the stained glass stuff? i dono how good the all reds would look on my red talon...of course, theres always the spray on lense tint that people have talked about (VHT's NiteShades), but i dono where id go to get that iether. oh, and would all black be legal, even? for the state of ks? also, does anyone have any pics of how niteshades looks at night? like how much light actually gets out?

i used the testors candy apple clearcoat method on my 1g, and with 4 coats of clear on it its survived with no change so far. of course its been broken alot lately too :(

but you can see it in my sig and if you want bigger pics or before and after just ask.

Hey man, i really like it and want to do it to my talon. Does the pain come in a can itself or do i have to airbrush it or paint it by hand or whatever? Can you give me all the details and information either here or in an email at [email protected], thank you Ryan

Is there a way to remove the "talon" lettering in the tail lights? I like how twitchs lights look but I want to de-badge the whole car.

Yeah, use Kyle's method. Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red #1605. Cost is like $3.15 at any hobby store and online so no need to shop around for it...they're all the same. One can will do at least three sets of taillights (I did a Legend, a Stratus and a Civic with one can) so no need for more than one can. Tape off the already red part of the taillight and just paint the amber part. 4 coats with drying time between each will match perfect and even have that glossy look that the rest of your taillights have.

hey all...i saw twitch's car last night...holy crap. the lights look fuggin
-AWESOME- in person..pics dont do em justice... good job bro

oh, btw..can i use the pic of your tails as an example for a photoshop? wanna see how itd look on my car before i do it..

hey twitch... looks good man! just curious... did you paint the entire light? ie: the part that was already red.... and did you paint over the "talon" in the middle, or did you tape off that lettering?? Oh... and did you do any prep work? ie: sanding or something....oh, and one more thing... how many cans (6 oz) did it take you to do it?? Should I get 2 cans?? Thanx man!

What color shows when you your turn signals on? That's the only thing that gets me. I got this bad visual of what amber looks like through translucent red. Could somebody that has done this mod take a pick with their flashers on so we can see what it looks like.

I don't think that painting the center part lloks bad black. Sorry twitch, I used your car for this photo shop. But if you can get the paint to match, I think the center would look good the same color as the car.

Hey All, I haven't checked in on this thread in a while. I have had this on my car for a long time and gave twitch the how tos on how to do it. Mine have been on the car for over a year like this now and I do not have any protectant and have not had a single chip. There is no way that I am aware of to remove the talon as it is molded into the lights. I am sure you could shave it and fill it with bondo but then your only option is to pain the middle section black. I have all the other markings removed from my car if you look at my gallery (except from the front eagle symbol). Let me know if you have any questions.

I taped off the middle black section and the housings so just the lenses were open. I then put masking tape over the reverse lights and used an Xacto knife to cut the excess tape off from around the reverse lights. Then clean the lights with rubbing alcohol. Let them sit and then paint the entire light including the red (matches the colors then). I put about 3 or 4 coats on with about an hour inbetween each coat. That was it. Very simple and made the car look 100 times better.
