For some reason, when I start my car, the rpms go up to around 1k, bounce around a bit, then settle.

Any Ideas on causes?

CEL is throwing rich codes, and bank 1 misfire, but I think I got that fixed. I'm going to reset the ecu and get it checked again once I put my car back together.(no lights or anything are on the car because I'm painting it)

yeah dude its the nature of the 420a... it will do that.. nothing to worry about. trust me. all the 420a's I have had always did that until the engine got warm like a 20 minute drive would stop it from doing it and if you notice if you are going down a hill step on the clutch the car will rev its self until you come to a complete stop. Weird I know...

Oh yeah dont forget your other post... front O2 sensor man...

When you say Bank 1 misfire, what does it say exactly. If it says fuel trim bank 1 that is your front 02 sensor (the one before the cat, and closest to the actual engine). That would cuase your car to run rich and to idle funny.

@smrodgers - Yeah, I just wasn't sure if my rich condition would cause that.

And, the code reader is just saying missfire in bank 1, and I only have 1 bank so that's not telling me a whole lot. I still need to try putting in a new upstream o2 sensor and see if that helps.

thanks guys.
