I am building a 6 bolt block with a 6 bolt head. Block has manly rods and pistons with an oem 2.3 crankshaft (built by dsmgraveyard), head has 274 cams, 3g lifters, supertech single springs and stock valves with a 3 angle grind. i have a transmission built by jacks transmission here in colorado. I still havent decided what turbo setup i want. Im shooting for 500HP at the flywheel. at this time money isnt really a issue. time is the issue. im willing to wait and save a lil bit in order to buy everything i want. This car is going to be strictly a street car. I might take it to the track a few times but i intend to build it so i can reach my full 500HP at a lower rpm. I dont want to wait till 7000RPM. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

i want to get adjustable cam gears, an input on brands and pros and cons?

ok so say i go with a hx40, what exhaust inlet does it have? i am planing on running a tubular header, any recommendations on a header to go with a hx40? i have also heard about a company called bullseye any input on them?

i have done some research on the forums about the precision turbos and i get a 50/50 on them. seems like either people love them or hate them. any input?

the dsm graveyard 274 cams are made from delta cams there nice but they work fine with stock cam gears unless your trying to get every last ounce out of this motor... call john at delta and he will give you info if you want to degree your gears if you go with an aftermarket Cam gear.

have you not had good luck with dsm graveyard engines? i have been reading the holset forums. very useful info. as of right now i am leaning towards a hx35 or 40. i still cant decide what manifold to go with tho. and amen on the aem cam gears. looking into ordering a set right now

I just used to work there so i know how they are made. read the vendor reviews ..... We just got done with a shop car a 95 gsx 2.3l stroker eagle rods Mahle pistons and are runing the SIM 275 cams with manley springs and a HX35 with BEP housing and a FP manifold along with a few other bolt ons like Meth injection magnus intake you get the point.

but you need to decide if you are runing a bep housing or the stock holset t3/t4 housing then choose a manifold if you go with BEP then i would suggest an FP race manifold.

i have done a lot of research on fidanza flywheels, i found a lot of people unhappy with their products. but i have bought 2 flywheels from them in the past with no problems. so maybe they are ok.

ok so i have a list started on other parts i need to order(as soon as the money comes)

aeromotive afrp
Walbro 255
aem cam gears (or another company depending on availability and stuff)
hx35 or pte or garret ball bearing (still havent decided if i want to go misubishi or t3 on the exhaust side)
erl slowboy fp exhaust header, (once again not dead set on any brand yet but would like equal length)

im pretty sure i want to go full e85. i need to do some research on what other guys are running for injectors and pumps and such. i need to start a list for that setup.

anymore input on parts i may need? clutches? upgraded brake stuff? how about a NOS sticker kit. LOL

The setup you've come up with looks good :thumb: . As for a clutch , if it's a DD street car stage 2 max (mines stage 3 and stop and go city driving can be harsh). What kinda intercooler have you looked into and piping size? A GM masf conversion might be an add on as well dont know . Gl and happy tuning :thumb:

i would use the stock turbo till brake in...and fuel injectors.......then if i wanted 500hp... i would go with a 3065 or a red fp turbo....but remember that pumpgas e85 and vp import would all very in power....me personaly..i like the new fp68HTA.
mostly cause you can get 350hp safe its tough as nails and it looks stock...so ppl think there gonna get you...but you have a suprise for'em.

Does not make a difference if you are runnning the stock turbo or not...

one it will be easier to just bolt on your whole setup outside of the car then drop it in and not have to swap setups after break in...
and 2nd of all you should not go WOT in break in so that meaning you should not be building high amounts of boost... and what is stock boost on a t25 or 14b 8-11psi compared to low boost on a 16g or hx35 with 8-11psi.... and Switching from a stock turbo to a Holset is a hell of a lot easier outside the car no to mention denting the water pipe and mocking everything up and running the oil lines...

i was looking into a act 2600 or 2900 setup possibly, also i want a large front mount with 2.5" piping, im a welder and if needed i will just weld up all my own piping. yes i have been thinking about making my own header but i dont really have the ambition in me to do it, lot of man hours. i need to look into the gm masf. can anyone link me to or tell me the benefits of that over the stock mass air?

i have been thinking about tearing apart the t25 and rebuilding it just to play with and break the block in with.

i agree with you as well allen, this is my first dsm but i have built and broken in a few other motors in the past. its always easier and a lot of time saving to build it like u want it, then baby it during break in

i picked up a hx40w this weekend used. im pretty excited about it, will post pics soon

How much did you score that for? If you don't mind me asking..

doesn't look like many miles on that thing
no shaft play or anything?

$300 bucks from a nice gentleman on craigslist. i believe it is a reman unit it does have a slight, very slight play side to side. but i plan on having it rebuilt before i use it.

Just a thought but if it is going to be a true DD that 2900 ACT is going to get old pretty quick I think.

oh first dsm?...hahaha dude don't jump the gun on thease cars...they will bite ya in the ass... for real get a stock turbo and injectors. run for 500 miles ..use the MOTOMAN break in style...then all in a weekend. get your injectors in, fuel PR on. big snail on. DSM link going, make sure you don't have boost creep.or boostleaks... unlike what the guy up there said..in dose matter on turbo break in...thats a beast tubo.. and your fuel system is not ready for it.

i know, im really thinking about running e85. i need a afpr, injectors, dsm link, fuel pump(s). this isnt my first engine build. just my first turbo engine build

can anyone confirm that my turbo is a divided t3?

tore the compressor cover off look what i found.
