My battery Drained, and while i was driving the car started to die!

In my 98 GSX the AFC reads my battery level at 11.3 when i would start, then when id rev past 3k it would boost up to 14 and stay sometimes lower, but then it started dyin down to 10V when i wouldnt rev past 3... Today when i was driving my Tacometer started trippin out and my battery level went to 7V and wouldnt go back up, Everything started to shut off(AFC, LIGHTS,Turbo timer) including the car, the car was dying.. What could the problem be =/

My guess would be your alternator. Sometimes they squeal horribly before they die because of the bearings inside them.

You can take your core in to almost any salvage yard that remans them and get a better than autozone alternator for 40-50 bucks. Remember to not get the 65 and the 90 is intended for canada with day time driving lights so the 75 is what is actually stock. But you could always get a 90 and have more power and faster charge if you ever want to get a system.

I'd check everything else first though. But hey, 40-50 bucks for a new alternator isn't to bad. You have to replace them eventually anyway right?

i go with autozone for the lifetime warranty. dont have to ever worry about paying for one again. that comes in handy when u have no bottom heat shield

perform a battery test first, chances are battery took a shit also, since they're reserve capacity only last 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Get it charged up first then perform the alternator test should read

13.5V minimum at idle
13.8V minimum at idle with loads on

14.0V minimum at 1500+rpms
14.3V minimum at 1500+rpms with loads on

recharge the battery and get an alternator

I would go with an OEM alternator. Much better quality than a parts store alt. This way you wont have to worry about taking the thing out and having it replaced every other week.

Yep. Sounds like the alternator.

Many part stores will test it for you for free.

autozone and oreillys check the alt for free just bring it up there. other prob do to these are just biggest in my area

check your 100a fuse that goes to the alternator...if that checks then its your alternator for sure...
