Why can't I find deals like that around me?
That would go for at least $3-4k by me in good running condition.
Nice buy!

looking at that engine bay i would say you would also need to do a timing belt job, unless you have a receipt from the previous owner that it was done less than 60k miles ago.

Word, I got my GST from the original owner around 95k miles no history of timing belt replacement. Before that car left the parking lot it got the works, t-belt, w-pump, and all 3 accessorie belts. Nice find either way.
96 eagle talon tsi awd turbo Can't believe this one is still around

I just got my wife a 1991 eagle talon awd for 125 does not run yet needs ecu and I hope it starts. The inside is beautiful and the outside is pretty clean. Before that I got a 1991 eagle talon awd for 550. with a afc neo,2g crome 5 star,2 1/2 exhaust,2 1/2 intake, 550cc injectors, and a couple other things. No title thou parted the car out mad three times what I paid for it and still have alot of stuff left. Then I couple weeks ago some one had a 90 eclipse gsx awd only wanted 400.Did not have the money thou, i was pissed a couple days later someone offered him 750 for it. thous are my good deals I found.

Nice find man. I just bought mine for a 1000 and the valves where bent from a bad tb install. The only reason I bought it is cause it came with a donor that had been wrecked. I have it running now but it still needs paint. Its black and lived its life in Arizona to paint a picture for you. But nice find bud.

Yeah there is actually a receipt from 98k for fresh timing belt. I have the original window sticker for 26k. All paper work still in the car, original rims, original..... everything.

DO NOT change out the tranny, it is the LAST thing you want to do(thats only if its never been changed, which sounds like it hasnt), the best thing you could do now is find some of the BG tranny fix.
If you mean don't change your fluid i already did. I hope to not have to change the transmission itself.

haha other then it being pretty dusty and dirty its a good find man 800 bucks can beat it for a talon in good shape like that and awd

Nice find for only $800. Especially, with all the paper work that came with the car. If you are lucky, all the transmission may need is a new filter.

Additional info:

When an automatic transmission's fluid is burnt and you change it out, the trasmission clutches will often lose most of it's grip. This is because the old fluid broke down and no longer did it's job. That can cause the clutches to wear out but, sometimes the transmission will still work since the friction material is still circulating within the fluid. Once that old fluid is gone, there's no more material in the fluid for the clutches to grip to. At that point, it's time for a rebuild. Some people actually put the old fluid back in after a filter change to keep the transmission functioning until they can get a rebuild. However, that doesn't always work. To keep an auto transmission working for years, change the fluid and filter at the recommended intervals (more often if driven hard). The installation of a good fluid cooler will help too. Also, check the fluid often to monitor it's condition. The key is to change the fluid before it's burnt and broken down.

Have fun with your new Talon.:thumb:

Well i all ready took the fluid out. Gunna try and fill it up and see what happens. If it needs a rebuild, still cant be happier for what i go it for. How much would it cost to rebuild vs finding a used one or rebuilt one?

The car is definitely worth the money, even if it didn't have a transmission. I've seen rebuilds costing $1500-$2000+ depending on the shop. Rebuilt ones can go for over $2000 as well. If the trans is broken, I say just find a good used one. It should only cost a few hundred dollars or so. Check the classifieds, ebay, etc.

The best thing to do now is NOT to pull the old fluid out, to save that tranny throw some tranny fix in there to neutralize all the oxidizing and will do what a tranny service couldn't. Matter of fact if you do the tranny service your gonna kill the tranny.
