If you ask me, I would say to get a "SUPER BIG" side mount intercooler from Dejon Tool

New 1st Gen DSM Side mount is made from a 9 1/2"Wide x 9"High x 4"Thk, 3/8" Bar and Plate core rated at 400hp. 78% more face area, 11sq in of hot flow area (equivalent to a 3.75"id tube) and 215% more charge air volume than stock. End tanks are 1/8" thk aluminum. Tanks are TIG welded with 2 1/4" inlet & 2 1/2" outlet tubes. Fits to existing holes in frame and top left to fender asy bolt. Requires enlarging the outlet hole in fender and minor grinding of cross member to clear the inlet coupling. Stock plastic splash guard will cover this IC with minor rework. You'll need our LIP-1gA or LIP-1gD lower IC pipe set and full 2 1/2" Upper Pipes.

It's new, so no one here really knows anything about it. I personally hate FMIC, but 90% of this forum uses them.

The benifit I see is that it has no super long routing and wont block the front of ## cars air coming into the radiator. It will bypass having a ton of other problems that come along with a FMIC.

Please don't flame my suggestion. This side mount pwns all other one including the supra crapbox one.

seems like a reasonable suggestion. would work for what he is doing. temp would be higher than with a FMIC.

whats your project goal with your 1g? are you going to have over 400 hp????

I'm happy with 400 hp. If you plan on getting more HP then that, then maybe go with a FMIC. That "super big" SMIC is a tad exspensive @ $439.00. I'm hoping some othe people wil lcopy it and sell it cheaper.

Keep in mind too, the opening of the super big SMIC is larger so u would need larger piping to fit it.

yeah i am looking for 400 plus....i think the punishment racing fmic is what iam going to go with....now i am just trying to find the cheapest vendor for the bc 272 and i am going to use stock evo 8 springs and retainers but iam short one spring and one retainer if anybody knows where i can get one let me know

so iam getting that feeling that iam sure all you feel i almost have all my parts and i am getting second thoughts about this whole build all i have left is to have someone put it all back together....i know you are all saying u should do it yourself but i have never built a motor and i dont want this to be my first catastrophe

there is always a first time for everything. I knew nothing about cars until I bought my DSM. Now im doin all sorts of work on myn. Just remember no guts no glory.

know i have hit a problem my buddy that i bought the car off of had bigger plans for the build so he just took everything out without concern for what happend to stuff...does anybody know if anybody makes a full engine rebuild bolt kit or is there anywhere i can find the size of every bolt in the engine bay

the project is at a stand still because i have the head at the shop getting done and i am waiting to get my shift kit in the trans and for the shop to finish another 1g so they can start on mine

this is for all the guys running a automatic transmission. what kind of transmission mods are you running with similar setups to mine.....20g turbo, bc 272 cams, full exhaust, stock bottom end

got my cams today and ordered my punishment racing fmic kit monday...iam still looking for advice from the automatic guys

Be prepared for the punishment kit to not fit for shit....My buddy has one and I helped install it.. The BOV hit the hood......

I would forward all your tech questions to Road Race Engineering/Buschur Racing/Slow Boy Racing. I have talked to people at SBR and RRE and they are very helpful, and their suggestions are keeping in mind a lot of other things that could keep you from jumping hurtle after hurtle.

Those auto shops have seen everything, done everything. These cars are old and everything has been figured out. You just need the right information. Each time you mod something, other things need to be modded to handle other mods. There is an upgrade path that each one of these auto shops have created to follow. So that nothing gets broken, and you stay with in your limits. A turbo system is very delicate. You also don't want a ton of power that you wont be able to use.

Once they tell you what your options are, then I would factor that into this thread so everyone can give their two cents, and then make the final decision.

That’s just how I would do it.
