Before: EVO III 16g (mitsu), Walbro 190lph rewired, Stock MAS w/kn filter and 450cc injectors. MBC @ 14psi, Boost Gauge, PocketLogger Datalogger,SAFC, stock exhaust, BPRE-6's

After: 2g mas, 3 inch exhaust, FIC 650cc, Hard aluminum intake tube w/cheap Autozone filter, considering installing BPRE-7's, New fuel filter

Any suggestions?
Any initial fuel setting suggestions?
Any intial boost suggestions?
At what PSI will my SMIC heat soak continuously?

Ive done some searching, and learned that 550s pretty much cancel our the 2g MAS. I don't get this - is the newly installed MAS able to read soo much more air at high throttle - that they require 550cc? Why don't 2g's come with 550's then?

Or am I going to end up at -44 in high throttle conditions?

Thanks for the help.

If you throw those 650's in your car without getting a chip burnt your car will run like shit.

Same goes for the 2g mas. You need to get an eprom and a chip burner, that way you can burn a chip properly for the 2g mas and the 650 injectors.

Also what are you doing for an intercooler? You won't be able to push more then 14 - 15 psi on the stock IC. Have you ordered all of your parts yet? Don't waste your time on the hard intercooler pipes because if you ever want a FMIC you'll just end up taking them off anyway. You can get FMIC kits (i sell them LOL for 480 bucks now.

If you do the ECU and intercooler properly you'll be able to push 20 psi on the car without having to change anything in the fuel. I ran my car with the SAFC zero'ed out at 20 psi on my 16g no knock, but thats because my ecu was compensating properly for the injectors and MAS.

Think about it, your car thinks you have 450's but you put 650's in you have to change fuel everywhere, not only that the car thinks it has a 1g mas so now its reader is all messed up with the 2g.

One of the biggest problems with the injectors are the dead time settings. This is the time in between pluses for the injectors, well larger injectors have bigger dead time settings, so depending on what the settings are for the 650's your car might not even run right.

I saw it happened when my buddy put in 720's, his car wouldn't even idle because the injectors were almost misfiring.

I figured this would be my first problem, and next logical upgrade. BTW, I said hard INTAKE tube, not intercooler pipes.

This information seems contrary to previous information that I have read. On the various "Piggyback tuning guides" it discusses the (hi-throttle and low-throttle) tuning required to run 550's OR 650's with a 2g MAS. It doesn't specifically say this was done on a stock non-EPROM ECU, but it never insists on the install of a chipped EPROM unit either.

Does everyone here that runs bigger injectors get an EPROM chipped for it - if so, why the SAFC?

sorry, didnt read about the intake.

Not everyone that has bigger injectors needs an eprom. You can get away with 550's and maybe 650's, but when you start going higher the dead time settings change which causes issues.

My buddy had 550's in and his car ran ok, but when he switched to 720's it wouldn't even idle since the dead time was so far off.

You don't NEED an eprom to use the 2g mas and SAFC, but it will make your life A LOT easier.

Like i said when i ran my 16g setup, all i had to do was burn a stock chip with compenstation for 660's and a 2g mas. My SAFC was zero'ed out and i was able to run 20 PSI no problem.

I still used the SAFC to lean everything out, but the ease of install and functionality is worth the investment.

You've also got to look at all the other benifits you gain with a Eprom. You can burn you own chips with custom fuel and timing maps. You can setup a stutterbox :thumb: and eliminate fuel cut. (There are plenty more).

So i'm not saying you can't run that setup, it's just a smarter way to run the car.
