Well I just got it going and got the idle somewhat close. Went for a drive and logged it. Car drove pretty good. I had my eye on the wideband the wholt time and didnt have any real problems. I hit boost once 118 kpa and the afr was perfect in the log 11.6:1 The car is idleing alittle rich right now. (13.8:1) Still drove nice. But After I got home and turned it off it wont start again. I might have a battery problem so I am charging it. Anyone have any ideas why the car wont start again?
Rand: my fp at idle is like 42 psi. I think that is right. I am using accel 40 lbs injectors.
 
hmm...I would think you would have to lower the idle fp some more :confused: Do you have the static set at 43.5psi ? I was just gonna get my car running first, then do my ms install, but I think I'm gonna go ahead and put it in this week and just use those 440's I have to start off. That way I can jack your numbers since ours should be about the same ;)
 
The static should be around 43 pounds. Idle will ###### be around 30 with that static. If your idle is 42 then your running closer to 550cc injectors.

If you cant restart when warm, then your either too rich or too lean in the ASE table.

IF you havent read the tuning manual then please do.

the ASE table will be some trial and error until you get it just right, thats why it called tweaking. Take your time, its tedious tuning.

While you guys are tunign and tweaking, i will be shelling out 3g's to fix a little fender bender that our wonderful weather brought today. :cry:

Drove the car again today still having a starting problem but I have some people on the megasquirt fourms looking at it for me. Got to love the net. I did lower my fp to about 32 at idle. Didnt change much though. I did have another problem. I took out my custom center consol and droped it. Put a nice crack in my bondo for my screen. Oh well I can do it better this time anyway.:thumb:
 
I got the start bug fixed today I think. I went back over the megamanual and changet the cranking pulse widths alittle and I also turned the barometric correction off. Turns over on the first crank now. Terry do you have the barcor. on or off? I also got my idle tuned alittle better. I still dont like how the car warms up but I will tune ut alittle more with my next cold start(if it starts) tomorrow morning. Going to go for a drive now guys laterz
 
I think i have my Barr Corr on, i will try it off and see what changes. Now that you have some good starting the warmup will be a piece of cake. On Warmup I aim for 13.8, that seems to be the smoothest. If I go with 14.7 like stock ECU then it seems to have small troublespots every now and then.

I got it to start this morning but it was a pnta. I had the ase set to seconds instead of cycles. When I put it to cycles it started fine. My ve table is still very rich I am goint to lean it out some at lunch and drive it back to work. Man there is so much little stuff involved in this thing I love it. MSNS for life yo!:thumb:

I did quite a bit of tuning today and am pretty close to where I want it for now. I ran 9 psi on a couple 3rd gear pulls and got it around 11.6 afr. I dont like my idle right now however. It is alittle choppy and a little rich. I will work on that. The car drives great under vacuum for normal street driving. it's alittle richer then it was with the stock ecu around 13.9 going down the street at 40 mph in 3rd.
On another note for anybody doing the megasquirt thing I have one recomendation, Have a wideband with a way to view it while driving. I.E. aem, innovate with xm-1 or zt. I got a map from a guy with very close to the same injectors and it idled great. I drove around and looged it for awhile and seemed ok. I steped on it and was lean under boost. Not bad mind you, it was 14.3 at 9 psi. If I couldnt see my wideband I would have done a hard pull and probably messed something up.

I got the ve table tuned pretty good for 10 psi now. There has always been a little hicup in the idle that I cant figure out. Even when it idles at like 14.7 it will make a funny noise in the exhaust. I am running a cutout and probably would not notice it with a cat and muffler. Also I dont think I have a rev limiter anymore. I am only running fuel for right now but this 350z wanted alittle something and I pulled to like 7500 before I relized I was that high. It was nice:thumb:

great after reading this, Now you got me thinking of the MSnS... Probably not gonna have the funds for it until NEXT summer :cry: 2.4 this summer :rocks:

Some updates..... The injectors I was using ended up being crap. I had a set of blue tops laying around and put those bad boys in and the car runs great now. The idle is 100% better. I have a cheap bov and it leaks past 12psi so after a few real bad boost leaks on some hard pulls I had to turn down the boost for now. I am still on a stock clutch aswell. The megasquirt has a few quirks but for the money it is the sh!t. I havent had much time to tune and am still waiting on a good deal on a hks bov so I will let you guys know when I really turn up the boost. Oh and I finaly got some rims on my bad boy too. I will post a pic up later.

Correction didnt make any difference for me. I noticed since we are having warmed weather that my cold starts above 60 F are very easy, Just need to work on the colder starts in the fall.

There is a newer version of code that ha just been made stable on sourceforge, the 029 code. Has a few newer features, i might upgrade in the middle to end of summer.

Did you have a problem with running spark Sam? My week has been screwed up with a business trip to Phoenix on Wed. I think i had a voicemail from you but i had to clean out my VM box so i cant remember the details.

Yeah I was messing around with running spark but couldnt get it to work right. I didnt spend much time on it. I will give a weekend up as soon as I have a full weekend off to get it working right.

Here you go I got a killer deal on these and they look so much better then the stock 14's. I did some work for a girl in town and she let these go to me with the tires on them for 400. I also sold her a screen that I got for free for 100 so I really paid 300 for them.
