Ok ive seen people do this before,i just dont recall any "howto" info im just wondering if anyone has sucessfully moved there HVAC controls to there glovebox (or anywere else)

It seems like it would be a pita sence they are mechanical controls.

On another note:
I know alot of you have install car PC's.
Has anyone acualy built there own? If so could ya point me to some resouces ?

Im sure you can see were this is going, im thinkin about installing a carPC
and i want the largest touchscreen i can get. So that would intail moveing the HVAC
controls.

hmmmm ya changeed your mind about ## black beast Dave? :) You not gonna sell/part it our anymore?

You know I'm going to help out if you do decide to go for it :thumb: The linkages will be PITA but i bet we can figure out :D

As for the carPC ....it's just matter of retrofitting everything in the center console and under the seat :thumb:

Check out mp3car.com for moving the hvac controls. they have a how-to kinda. It involves bike brake line or something. You can install a 10" ts without mofing yout hvac controls. And I messed around with mounting mine up high on the dash and it looked better in the double din position. I know a 10 inch wont fit in the double din neather did my 8. Just my 2cents. I did build my own car pc so if you have some hardware or software questions pm me.

Does it have to be a PC? What about a Apple? http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...pc8y6fcDSNax/0.SLID?nclm=Macmini&mco=45974843
this seems to be the best for size constraints of our cars, you might look into that. As far as the HVAC goes, just a observation, but have you considered possibly moving it to the lower lleft of the steering column? it would be alittle but of custom fabrication, but it seems if its possible it would be alot easier then opening your glove box everytime you wanna turn the A/C on...

i have an extra computer that i could cram in but im worried about electrical issues.
im running an xbox, 3 monitors, cd/dvd player, plus my 2400w rockford amp and a 300w alpine amp.... seems like a big load as it is, i would think a computer would suck alot of power (using an inverter).

yeah, I dont want to have to run an inverter.
Im leaning way more towads a 12 volt power supply.
