:D I have a 1g tsi awd that I got for $1000. It came with a turbo timer, boost controler, SAFC2, 3 inch exhaust and aftermarket wheels/radio plus it runs perfectly and shifts into every gear(all interior electronics work). I've been on here researching and found that alot of newbie's run and start buying bolt-on's without performing ALL of the proper maintenance. I have a list with 16 things that need to be done. I want to complete at least 80% of the list before I start buying the good stuff. Any 1g members have any recommendations other than the obvious maintenance. things that pertain more to the 1g's. here is what I've done so far;

1. tires
2. oil change
3. brakes(pads and rotors)
4. battery
5. replaced plugs and wires(NGK BPR6ES with .028 gap)
6. changed the intake filter
7. check hoses/intercooler piping
So I have 7 of 16 things done:hellyeah:

I know it is wise to check for boost leaks. There is no stutter or loss of power under boost. All of the hoses look really good. The timing belt seems to be the last really important thing to change. I have the greyish looking leather seats that are gutted and alot of paneling is missing(both front door panels need replaceing) as well carpet looks like it will be ok with a full scrubbing. No major stains and no rips. let me know what you think.

My reccomendations (in no particular order)
1. Check/ Flush all your fluids
2. boost leak test (you're gonna need an aftermarket boost guage, or a tester that has a psi guage)
3. Check belts (aside from timing belt) and hoses for wear
