Motor swap

So i have a 99 gs-t daily driver that actually just blew up on me. Right now i am thinking motor swap, I am trying to decide the best motor to put in my car. Everyone talks up the 6 bolt motors to be better. While i thought another 1999 7-bolt would be best. Im running a td04 13t turbo.

Also people talk about it being easier to put a evo III motor in a eclipse, but if u have ever looked at an evo the entire engine bay is different... lotsss of work

An evo III is not much different, you are probably thinking of the evo VIII or IX

For starters the Lan Evo you speak of is a 1st gen which is the same style engine as DSM mitsubishi. And yes it is possible but extra work and money for not much gain. 1st gen Evo is as follow, Evo1-3 all basically same, 2nd gen Evo is EVo4-6 agin bassically all the same, 3rd gen Evo is Evo7-9. And last but not least 4th gen Evo is Evo 10-present. 1st gen evo uses old school style 4G63 like us. 2nd gen evo they swapped engine and tranny sides (I think this was to offset the engine's natrual tourqe direction it pulled in the engine bay vs's the car haulin ass in a straight direction, but dont qote me on that) Evo 7-9 agin differant style (america only saw 8 and 9 no evo 7) Then theres Evo 10 and its a whole new breed. The 4G63 was retired and it now has a 4B11 timing chain type engine

Yes to make a long story short you should swap in a 1st gen six bolt engine because I said so and they are the best of 'em all !

If you're going to start over I would go with a 6 bolt. I opted to stay with a 7 bolt because of the amount of aftermarket 7 bolt parts I had. What exactly happened to the motor?

An evo III is not much different, you are probably thinking of the evo VIII or IX

Really because the whole set up is backwards, the intake the water pump the belts everything is an the opposite side from a dsm, which im guessing is very difficult to transfer everything.

Not on an evo iii its the same as DSM.

Evo III is basically a 2G 4G63, besides the 1G CAS, and the thermostat housing (no cap, on radiator on those cars). It has higher compression, bigger turbo, bigger injectors, better intake manifold, etc. but that isn't the issue here, you are referring to "installing" it.

All I had to swap out when I installed mine was the thermostat housing, and wire my car for the 1G CAS.

Do you have access to one or just thinking it has more power or something?
