Motor swap difficulties with cas

Thank you all in advance. I put my built motor from my 95 gst into my 98 gsx body. Both cars were running perfectly at the time. During swap we run into the different cas. So we took the sensor of the 98 and tapped it into the 95 intake cam. We got the car to start but only for a second then it shut off. We checked code and it is po340. Cam sensor code. So both cars were running and now it's not. Did the sensor go bad? Or is it something else I am missing. Again thanks for your help this has been a week of hell.

The 95(2ga) and 98 (2gb) engines/ecus have a few minor differences. One being the CAS and the way they read them. On the early 2Ga's, they ran from a crank angle sensor and the CAS on the passenger side of the head was removed. This was brought back on the 2gb. There are a few things you MUST do before you can simply install a CAS in a 2Ga car before running it.

Eh, it's not nearly the same concept. If the '98 cam sensor was retained with the '98 ECU, then this should be a pretty straightforward deal; i.e. once the '95 cam was tapped, it should be an plug-and-play affair.

Assuming that is what was done (kept the '98 ECU), did you reinstall the sensor correctly?

I missed that they dropped it into the 98 body, not the other way around. My mistake.

You might did something wrong when installing the CAS.

Just swap the CAMS from the 2ga to the 2gb which the CAS will be bolt on and it should be run pretty good.

Well went and bought a new cam sensor and she started right up. Well glad that's that. Sure something else will pop up soon. Thanks again for everyones input
