Motor problems

hey guys/gals yesterday I was driving my 93 eagle talon Es and when I came home from work i heard a sound that was coming from my engine and it was going clink clink clink, it kinda sounded like something was routating and catching somthing everytime it rotated one and it seems to become more savere when the car is in drive but its not that bad when it in park. Would anyone have any idea what coulda happened on my way home?

Check your torque converter bolts. They have a tendency to loosen. If they are loose, a little loc-tite blue will help keep them tight.

Dont think its the belts because now my car is starting to burn somthing like maybe oil or anti freeze and its never done this b4 it just started to happen last night, do you guys think it my be a head gasket or sumthing in that range? at first i thought it was the transmission but when i rev the car the clank stops, weird huh?

I would check your balance shaft belt. On my 2g engine, I had my balance shaft seize up and it was making a sound close to that. Also, I would do a compression test to be on the safe side. That may give you more answers.

I actually did a compression test and they were about 10 psi over 145 but i think that ok...

Sounds like Valvetrain to me - I would pull Valve Cover & for God's sake park it till you pin this dowm~!

Could be your Harmonic Balancer have that checked


The harmonic balancer, or vibration damper, is a device connected to the crankshaft to lessen the torsional vibration in a car. Yours may be going bad, so just take a look at it and see what condition it's in.
