Okay I just replaced my driver side motor mount by the timing belt. The problem is the motor moves around at that spot now. Everything is tightened down and if I give it some gas it moves around side to side a lil bit right there.

Also, the mount isn't touching either side of the car body. There is a gap on both sides.

Can somebody w/ a 2G w/ stock mounts go check and see if they also have gaps there and if theres moves around a lil bit right there on them.

My last mount was completely shot so I replaced it hoping it would help alot but now my engine moves.

Yeah I have those, one on each side of it. They aren't thick enough to take up all the room btwn. the mount and the body though. Are they supposed to be?

They just kinda sit there rather pointless

To me, it does look like its a little small. If I were you I would buy the pro-urithane mounts that keep the motor from moving much at all. you didnt by chance throw the old mount away did you? I hope not that would make it easier to install the new one in it. RoadRaceengineering, com as I recall. 30 bucks is what I paid and got the timing side and the front inserts. Big, good, difference! :thumb:

u only got the timing side and the front one? what about the others? Also w/ the prothane don't i completely remove the black rubber part?

Edit: Screw it, I'll mess w/ that crap later. I just wanna make sure that it's okay how it is now. I figured it should be stiff, not be able to see the engine move right there.

I noticed the same thing on my 98 GST last night. I was gonna post about it, but decided to search first(imagine that).

My drivers side mount looks the same way. Those thin flat rubber pieces on each side.... are they supposed to be really loose? I can spin them all kinds of ways. IMHO if their only purpose is to prevent metal on metal contact incase of MM breakage, then they are probably fine....but I figured I should ask. ;)
