Quick rundown- 2g w/120K, recent 1g head, problem arouse after sitting for 5 years. Fresh oil & plugs. I say otherwise in the video but when you get underneath it almost sounds like a knock as well, but it's hard to tell.
YouTube - 2g dsm awd tsi top end noise, maybe lower knock as well
I'm working on this car for someone else, and I really don't want to have to get into this motor right now, so it's not looking good. s
I think my next step is to screw a good mechanical gauge into the head right?....
BUT that damn allen plug is NOT coming out. So quick question- can I tap into the other small allen plugs to check pressure? There is a gazillion on this head I'm sure one will come out easy. I really can't run around all day to try to find something to adapt into the larger bolt (The one that faces the passenger fender, on the same oil port as the small allen that faces the grill.)
After watching the video what do you guys think? I was scared before I even started it that the oil pump had lost it's prime, I'm not a dsm owner and I know stock gauges suck anyways, but how does it look to a dsm'r? It goes higher when revved obviously, but slow- I'm assuming it's just the delay in the gauge.
