Hey fellas I've had this problem for about 3 weeks now and my car has just been sitting. I read over the how to diagnose a no-start but I didn't see anything about my specific problem. When I insert the key into my ignition with the doors open it makes that stupid noise like its supposed to but that's about it. When i turn the key (accessory, ON, Start) it does nothing, by this i mean nothing turns on (gauges, radio, fuel pump, starter, etc.) I know for a fact that I have power because my lights still work and flip up. I jumped the ignition relay under the dash with the key turned to on position and everything worked for about 2 seconds ( i saw my gauges turn on and heard the fuel pump kick on) then my ignition fuse popped so I figured it was just a bad relay. I replaced the relay and the ignition still does nothing. All my fuses are good, could it be the ignition switch itself that has gone bad? Any help with this nightmare would be greatly appreciated

I would first check to make sure ALL of your connections are tight and clean (battery, starter, ect.). You should also make sure that the fuse you use for the ignition is an 80 amp. That is what came factory in that car. If you overload a fuse it will blow, as you seen when you bypassed the relay and put all the power on the fuse. I believe that the ignition switch is going to be the cause of your problem. My buddy had pretty much the same issue and we replaced all the fuses and the relay and nothing fixed the problem until the ignition switch was replaced. Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Take the column apart and remove the plastic light ring to get to the key ass'y. Then, use a nail to press in the lock button for the removal of the tumbler ass'y.

After you remove the ass'y, you'll see a slot in the back were you can put a screwdriver in to turn the switch unit for the ignition.

Also, do you have any add-on wiring going to the switch, for this is usually the issue of no-starts.

Awesome I will try this when I get home, I couldn't find a write up on removing the tumbler assembly so I held off a bit. Also as far as wiring I have an HKS turbo timer wired up correctly(was working fine for 4 years), I unplugged it and the ignition still wouldn't work so I don't think that's the issue.

It has a brand new battery and all of the the connections are def. tight, that was the first thing i checked. The relay I replaced was an oem one from Mitsubishi.
