Well im about to start ordering parts for my build. so far im going with my 6 bolt rods Evo 9 pistons and a stock head now what i wanted to know is what do I have to get OEM and what can I get aftermarket exple Water pump, oil pump, front case , idler pulleys, motor gasket set, ???

Tensioner pulleys that stuff is a must everthing you dont have to. Ive used other stuff but timing stuf f i dont skimp on everyone will have a opionon but it comes to you and your wallet in the end. Oil pump i would go oem that stuff is critical do it once or do it again soon.

Generally, the whole timing side of the motor should be OEM. The water pump you can cheap out on if you'd like, everything else though, go OEM.

Things like bearings, rods, pistons, piston rings, headgasket - go aftermarket. Stuff like oil pump and pulleys, go OEM. Just my 2 cents.

Waterpump I'd go OEM too, but some aftermarket ones are a lot cheaper and just as good. Just don't go too cheap on it. Timing belt go OEM or buy a really good aftermarket one.

I agree with most of what's posted.

I'm spinning a $30 Duralast (Autozone) water pump over 8,000rpm with no issues and its guaranteed if it does fail.

Timing components and the oil pump i would recommend OEM. People have had issues with cheap oil pumps. Some of the cheaper timing belts are ok, some are not. The general consensus on T-belts is OEM or an upgrade, like a Gates Kevlar.

I've been burned with an aftermarket water pump: It failed after 10K on a stock 4G63 NT. I wish I could remember the brand. I think GMB was an OEM supplier though. Search on the water pump. There are a few threads about it where folks go into detail.

These guys have good prices on aftermarket, or it's at least a good site for price comparisons of different aftermarket parts. The pages load fast and the site works well:

Auto Parts at AutohausAZ - OEM Auto Parts - Discount Replacement Parts, Resources and Car Care Tips

This site is good for rock-bottom discounts on gen-u-ine mitsubishi parts, and their service has been excellent to me. But beware, sometimes you find a part listed and then it turns out to be unavailable. They are a dealership parts department, so you can search by mitsu part #:

Mitsubishi Parts | OEM Mitsubishi Parts | Genuine Mitsubishi Parts
