I'm planning on threading in a 3/8NPT to -6AN fitting on each end of my OEM fuel rail. Just wondering, would there be any consequence to cutting the return side of the fuel rail about 1/2" shorter, so there will be enough room for the 90° fitting for the return?

I won't need the "ears" for the bolts to thread in to, since I will be tapping the rail for the fitting.
