I have a M500 which is compatible but the dock for it has a USB connector. To log with it am I going to have to look for a serial base? If not can someone send me in the proper direction for a hack and slash schematic?

Amazon <- I found one here. I will order this.

Serialio.com was selling it for 30 bucks OMG so I'm going to get one from amazon. My favorite place to buy stuff. I got a battery for my Canon SD780is for 1 dollar. :thumb:

Thanks for the info.

Hey I know this thread is old but i'm in the same shoes you were. I have a palm m500 and the docking station has a usb connector and I don't have a serial hotsync cable for it. Did that cable you bought off amazon work? also What data cable did you use? I made the one here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...03316-how-set-up-mmcd-make-logging-cable.html
I tried to log data on the palm using a serial to usb adapter that I got from ebay to connect the data cable to the usb cable on the docking station but it doesn't work(no live data is showing up on mmcd on the palm). So if that cable that you bought worked for you then ill just buy one too. Please let me know. Thanks!

All the palms are so outdated just use a laptop with a palm emulator

The cables are easy to make an you just swap the pins that arn't the ground
or use a null modem adapter with a serial to usb adapter if your pc doesnt have a serial port like most newer computers or Can use a V3 Ecmlink cable with the Palm emulator if your not the diy type

but a laptop need some more space on the instrument panel than a palm..

i use a m505 all the time, constant planted near the center console :)

what cable do you use for that m505 because I believe those have a usb sync cable too am I right? or do you have one of those universal serial cables for it?

I use a full kit from 1glink. In that kit there are two cables.
One is a palm connector to a 9 pin serial connector. The second is the serial cable to the car port. This you can make yourself there are details on the MMCD web site.

I do not use the palm connector to USB as it does not work for hot sync or anything else when using windows 7. If this is the only cable with the palm connector on it you will need to get the palm to 9 pin serial cable to make it work with the 9 pin to car port cable.

To hot sync I use the USB to serial adapter with the same palm to 9 pin serial cable for logging to hot sync to the adapter.

I hope this answers your questions.
