Ive downloaded the Emulator with the "stuffs" and done everything as directed. The cable I'm using is this one: (eBay Motors: DSM 1G ALDL Datalogger Cable Eclipse Talon 3000GT Mitsu (item 180199535250 end time Dec-27-07 15:25:30 PST))
I also purchased a female/female db9, male/male hd15, db9 to hd15 adapter and a db9 to usb cable (Cables To Go Computers - USB to DB9 Serial Adapter - 26886) all from Frys Electronics.
My laptop had only the hd15 female connection in case you're wondering. I bought these parts so that I have two ways of connecting should one not work:coy:. However, I cant get either way to work:(. On the emulator I get the error comm connection or whatever error message on the test part on mmcd. I connect both ways to log but nothing even moves. Ive tried many times different ways and have been looking for answers by searching for sometime now but no luck so I'm asking for help, maybe a walk through, step by step or something. Wisemen and loggers please help...

Thanks...

The HD15 is for the video monitor; it's not a serial/parallel port. You'll get nowhere trying to connect to your diagnostic port that way.

If you can't get a USB to Serial adapter to work, consider getting a PCMCIA serial port adapter and using it to communicate with the car. I use one with my newer laptop instead of a USB-Serial adapter because it's proven to be much more reliable over the long run. I prefer using my older laptop with direct serial connection & Windows XP, though.

I thought so but I figured I'd give it a try anyways. I'll look into the PCMCIA serial port adapter but is that the only way?
I have a palm tungsten e2 but not a serial hotsync cable. Anybody know how to make ona and use some of the parts I already have?
