mixing coolant ANY help will help!!

just wonderin what sort of container u guys use to mix your engine coolant..?? or is it safe to just pour the entire contents of coolant into the system then add the same jug filled with water??....its way below freezing here, so i dont know if it matters that the coolant is mixed with the water immediately?

anything will work.A bucket, a pot, large bottle. nothing will happen when you mix the two regardless how cold it is. remember 50/50. mix it before you pour it in. do you know how to get air out of the system??

the reason i was asking was because i had 2 different set of instructions...one on the thermostat said to mix it first, and pour it in while it was idleing....the instructions on the jug said to pour the jug in first then pour the same jug full of water in, then run it(i didnt know if this would have been good to do since it is cold and i never knew how long it would take for the water and the coolant to mix together in the motor).....i ended up mixing the coolant, then pouring it in....then starting it and waiting for it to go down a bit with the heater running.

I mix 60 percent distilled water to 40 percent anti-freeze/coolant. why? because I live in california with no snow. I could go 30 percent anti-freeze too...it just depends where you live. For you 50 percent anti-freeze and 50 percent distilled water is good.

mix together it in a empty water container or a empty washed out milk jug. fill the radiator. Cap the radiator. turn on car with the heater on full blast, let it idle, wait for it to cool. remove radiator cap. fill the radiator with more antifreeze and coolant. go to bed and check and top it off before you start the car the next day.

Empty kitty-litter jugs are terrific for stuff like this. If you don't have a cat, one of the neighbors will.

I carry one full of water all summer. I hope I'm never glad I do.

You can mix coolant and water in the radiator, one trip through the system will get it stirred up plenty.

You used coolant?!?


J/k, I've done it both ways, Mixed in a bottle then poured in the engine. And Poured all the Coolant in and then topped off with water, thier was no effect on engine temps. So it really doesn't matter.
