I have been having this problem with my car burning oil and oil on my piston. i just put a stroker motor with arp head studs in my car then my turbo took a crap so I put a new turbo on it. Then I replaced the head also. Since I had a metal hg on the car I was told that they were reusable from a mitsu tech. So I re-use and my car didn't stop smoking so I pulled the head off and the hg never seals there was coolant and oil on top of my pistons. I cleaned the block and head really well and the threads and the studs. My question is should I use any type of copper spray on the metal hg or should I just put the hg on and torque it down to the specs. I really don't want to do this again so any info would be great
thanks

:talon:metal head gaskets usally need a very smooth surface to seal good.. not sure about the spray sealant though. also the lil dowel pins on the corners of your block. check these. i have heard and seen these cause problems in the past.

I had the block decked about 120 miles ago, the head was also checked about 20 miles ago I use a die grinder with a buffing pad on it to clean both surfaces. They reason I was asking about the copper spray is that I read some people used other people didn't. The dowel pins in the block are new.
Thanks for the info

you know i was just watching on you tube about how them buffing pads damage the block. but this was an sr20 block. hope thigs work out for ya,

I personally have never re-used a head gasket. I have heard of some people who do and say its ok, but its not worth it IMO. I have also used copper coat on every MLS headgasket I've installed and never had an issue.

Thanks for the help I will let you guys know how the instal goes this weekend.
