montreal,
hi to all of u
to me, i have easily 40 hp missing, but can t find where thoseponies are hiding
my time : 14.6 @ 95 @ 17-18 psi (full weight)at somethin like 5 degrees celsius i don t know howuch it is in farh. but it should be cold enough for a turbo
my car:
94 talon tsi awd with 91 j spec engine and tranny with the 14b
2.5 from the turbo to the back (stock 02 housing)
mbc, boost gauge, af gauge ,k&n filter, hacked maf, rewired stock fp
no air leaks what so ever, compression is 174 for all 4, turbo has been rebuilt, the timing belt has been properly changed, the fire timing is at normal
i ran with a full weight car, spare tire included...on 94 oct gas
and for those wondering, i know how to drive my car and launch it properly 2
i have the bpr6es sparkplugs with accel 8.5 mm wires
14.6 sounds more like a stock time, i know i dont have a lotof mods, but this should be enough to at least be close to the 13s and 105-110 mph,
what s wrongwith my car???
i ve searchedfornights and nights in all kind of forums, but can t find a good answer
thx for reading
i hope someone understand my misery LOL

if you could, post your timeslip or a pic of it... it would be easier to diagnose if there was a full timeslip to see.

Also, some cars are just pooches. I guarantee if you take 5 DSMs with the same amount of milage and exact same modifications and have the same driver run them all until he had consistent times (for each car) they would probably vary by 1 second or more. Some cars are just factory freaks and some cars you can mod the hell out of and they are still slow. I'm not saying this is your case, and I hope its not, but keep it in mind. :)

Are you hitting fuel cut? I know this may sound a little off the wall but try getting your car on a logger of some sort and see if you are running really rich at WOT, you may even want to see if your BOV is leaking and not letting all the boost get to your motor. There are a number of little things that can cause a car not to run good at the track, but even with the mods you have I would consider tuning it and see if that helps. Later, Keith

twizzle: i tried scannin it but it s notclear enough
and on top of that i didn t find the good time slip, (illgo make some more soon:) but heres my14.7run

mark: i totally agreewith you, but i my case i think theres just toomuch power missing for this to be normal....

nos
my af gauges saysthat i m not too rich , just rich enough, i nothittin fuel cut...
but mynextbuy s definately a datalogger, i never playedwith that yet, but if its good
for my bullet :p i ll sure try to analyse wheres the problem with that
anotherthing, i have no oil cooler but mylittleknowledge tells me that itcan t be that right????
when i finish my run i m always at the end of the run on 3 rd gear at like 7000-7200 rpm
should i try to start ifferently to try to reach 4th gear??

Dude, a 2.2 60' isn't at all good launching. Thats hurting you right there right off the bat.

How much boost are you running, an cheapo autometer A/F gauge won't tell you shit. Also only go to around 6800-7000rpm's not 7200 on a 14B.

I think your running lean, may be near fuel cut, + your 60' isn't helping anything.

I will have to agree with eclipse90gsxt your 60ft time is not great, and your 1/8th mile time leaves a little to be desired. With just a K&N I pulled a 9.16 1/8 and a 1.82 60ft, not saying that you are a bad driver or anything but something there isn't right. I would say that you should try and turn down your boost to about 15 psi and see what kind of times you are running and go from there. :thumb:

p.s. As a side note it maybe a little off the mark here but with that amount of boost you may be heatsoaking the intercooler, have you cleaned it yet?

practice practice practice. 2.2 sucks for an awd launch. Get that 60' down to about a 1.8 and you'll see a good chunk of improvement in times. Shift faster. Not trying to make fun of you, but judging by your 60' time you dont have a lot of experience. You could pick up a few mph with excellent shifting.

i know i donthave a lot of experience itwasactually my first time
i sure need practice (even with the short shift kit) and i ll tryimproving that launch
what do u guys do ? i revved it at about 4700-4800 rpm, shouldi rev it at 3?
do u guys end ur run in 4th gear or 3rd?
u know what guys, nexttime i goin i m gonna video tape it hehe
but let s say that y win 3-4 tenth, isn t it still too slow?

thx man
i appreciate
i ll try to push it til 4 th gear
and ill try to come back here with a video

I launched mine around 5k or so, but I will admit that slipping the clutch is easier on the car than just letting it go right away, you won't believe how much hard parts are for these cars as compared to a clutch. :D

hi guys
to close this:
my timing belt skipped and....
i think my ponies missing were due to a badly working cam angle sensor or coil pack

na it was brand new....almost...about 2 000 miles
i m not sure what exactly happened, but i think some oil slipped out of the engine to finish on the timing belt, and with the time i think it fu**** ed it up
i m gettin my car back tomorrow, fortunately the pistons aren t broken, so it was only the lifters, and some other little things to replace, (all the seals etc...)
i hope i ll get all of my ponies back,
if not as i said i ll try replacing the cas and / or coilpack and/or tps/throttle body, it gotta be somethin like that....
thx for the space
