My car has a problem under hard acceleration. Sometimes while boosting hard, I lose spark or fuel, in one cylinder. I dont know which one it is yet but the car will lose a cylinder and will keep misfiring until the car is shut off and cooled down a bit. It usually takes about 15-20 minutes of cool down time before the engine can run properly. I am thinking this is a coil pack issue due to the heat of the engine and ignition under hard acceleration. Has anyone ever had this problem?? Is it the coil pack or could it be the transistor?? The wires are really new and the plugs arent fouled and are gapped propely (NGKBRP6).

Never personally had this problem, but it does sound like a coil problem. I would figure out which cylinder isnt getting fire, switch the coil packs around and see if the problem continues in another cylinder. If it still does the same thing in a different cylinder then you know where the problem may be coming from.

Yes the system has been tested.

Its not a leak, Once it mis-fires it will continue to run with a mis-fire until I shut it down and let it cool off. CEL comes on, sounds like a WRX, and runs like a Honda.

I dont have access to a logger here and dont want to spend the money on one, I will have engine management soon. I just cant get this code pulled to figure out which cylinder it is. I guess I'll throw another coil at it and see if that helps it or not.

if you had a coil not working you would only have 2 cylinders. Each coil fires both plugs at the same time (called a waste spark system) Thats how I see it anyway. Still would not hurt to check both. It could be an injector problem WTF Good luck Just buy a cheap palm pilot off of e-bay and make a cable you could have a logger for 20-30 bucks. It would be a great help right now :D
