I have just bought a 92 talon awd for $500. It needs an engine and the tranny rebuilt. Anyway it will be driven often. I have a 240sx that I will be turboing so it will be my daily driver while the nissan is down. I want to hit mid to high 11's on 93 oct pump gas. I have been on here searching for a few hrs to see what everyone is running to get their times. This is what I plan on using to hopefully get there. Lemmo know what you all think. My previous 92 talon was fwd with 16g/650/maft/sidemount/and free mods got 13.1 on pump gas.

Block .20 over wiseco pistons on big 1g rods
HKS 272's
Crower valve springs & retainers
650cc injectors
MAFT & 3" MAF
SBR cast exhaust manifold
2.5" tubular o2 housing
SBR evoIII big16g ported 34mm wg flapper
3" turbo back exhaust
ACT2600 clutch
ACT lightweight flywheel
APR head studs and rod bolts
Cometic HG
Dejon tool UICP
Dejon tool 3" intake
Bar&plate FMIC core 20x7x3"
Walbro 255 pump
Looking to run 16psi low and 25psi race

Mid to high 11's on pump gas with a evo 3 16G might be pushing it. I am not saying that it can not be done but you might have some better luck with a 50 trim or a green.

It would be a lot easier on race gas to hit those numbers on a 16g, start looking around at all the bolt-on 50-trims that are out there now

Here's the thing. I wanna stay under $1000 for the turbo and I want to stay with an internal gated turbo. Hows the spool on say a pte 50trim? Are the pte turbos good quality stuff? Not gonna break down after a year or two?

I recomend going with a internally gated green, couple of hundred more but a great turbo.

Thats a lotta jack for a turbo. Would I be using it to it's full potential wants 11's? Would I be better off with a pte or turbonetics or maybe a 20g? Also Will the big rods be ok for my goal? thanks for your input guys

Those numbers are possible and it has been done by many just check the time slips w/ evo16g, however it has to be tuned very well. The tuning of the car is going to make the difference between a mid to low 12 sec and a high 11.

this is what you need man......supports 350 to 450hp to the wheels.....more than enough hp for the times your looking for......i got one from thespeedfactor.com.....awesome customer service, i recomend them...got mines for $730 shipped thats a internally gated t04b t3/t4 vtrim...also got the 24 month warranty too...check them out man

How many Evo 3's aare running 11's on Pump????

I went 11.9 on mostly pump gas and 50trim. Evo16 on pump and 11s are not going to happen unless your car goes on a big diet..

I second that, You'll be dealing with a well -known company(FP) that has produced proven turbo's such as the green, but one thing I would go with is spend the extra money and go external. there's some people that have ran 11.8's on pump on the green in your area Maxim240.

I'm not going externally gated. Too much extra $$, and pain to me. I think you should be way faster if you have a $1200+ turbo. There are a few guys in OKC running low 12's on their stock 14b's. Don't get me wrong, that fp green is a really nice turbo but I could have TWO Evo III big 16gs for the same price. Slowboy's site says the evo 3 supports 400WHP. I think that should be sufficent to power my into the 11's. What about the mid 11's on race gas? Is it too much to ask from the 16g?

Yeah, it supported 400hp on a built 2.4. Your not going to have that luxury. Look into the agp rs series. Cheap and a good warranty. You can get internally gated 49/60 turbo for about 800

Those guys running low 12's on their 14b's are NOT on pump gas. A turbo that can do 12.6 on pump compared to a turbo that can do 11.8 on pump is a HUGE difference. Also, those guys on the 14b's will not be trapping near the speeds that the Green would trap, I promise :D

Going high 11's on pump gas with a 16g isn't gonna happen unless you find a way to pull an honest 400lbs outta your car. Your interior and A/C are only 75lbs so feel free to keep looking for another 325. I suggest you pull your dash and heater core and stereo and all related comonents, your headlights and motors, cut the re-bars outta your doors etc. In the end you'll have a 16G powered shitbox that goes 11's on pump that you'll likely die in if you ever get into an accident cause it's all cut up.

You are going to need a 50trim or something along those lines to make it.

Just copy my setup then :thumb:

This is what I plan on using to hopefully get there. Lemmo know what you all think.

Block .20 over wiseco pistons on big 1g rods (This isn't really necessary, especially if you somewhat on a budget. Just find a good stock block)
HKS 272's
Crower valve springs & retainers (Total waste of money unless you go big on the turbo and plan on spinning it to the moon)
650cc injectors (Go bigger. No less than 750's. I maxed my 660's out on pump gas with a Green turbo)
MAFT & 3" MAF
SBR cast exhaust manifold (simple ported 2G manifold for $75 will do)
2.5" tubular o2 housing
SBR evoIII big16g ported 34mm wg flapper (11's is NOT gonna happen with this turbo on pump gas. Any 50 trim variant is a much better choice. The PTE versions had quality control issues early on. The FP Green NEVER had any issues)
3" turbo back exhaust
ACT2600 clutch
ACT lightweight flywheel (not necessary, but may help free up a few hp)
APR head studs and rod bolts (skip the rod bolts, use OEM)
Cometic HG
Dejon tool UICP
Dejon tool 3" intake
Bar&plate FMIC core 20x7x3"
Walbro 255 pump
Looking to run 16psi low and 25psi race (Look to run 25psi on PUMP GAS, and 30psi on race gas to achieve the #'s you want)[/QUOTE]

Look on my homepage for a complete list of mods I have. To date, my best is 11.50@119 on pump gas, with a parts list pretty similar to yours, except I had an aftermarket intake manifold. I needed 25psi on 93 octane to get there. 30psi and race gas should put me into the 11.1x range. You have very obtainable goals, just not the right turbo for the job. Good luck.

I'm saying it can't be done. Very few guys struggle to get into the 11's with these turbos on race gas. They are great units, just don't have the airflow to get the job done.

Your best bet is to buy a used FP Green then. Most likely going to have to buy one set up for an external wastegate. That gate setup will run you an extra $4-500 though. The PTE turbos had quality control issues early on. A good # of them were sent back due to the bearings basically eating themselves up. Haven't heard much about them in the past 6-10 mos. tho. I'd still rather buy a turbo once. Instead of buying it, having to send it off to get fixed, then installing again.

OH PLEASE!! Do NOT recommend a turbo that has ZERO credibility, not to mention, not a single performance # tested for it. Has ANYONE ever made ONE SINGLE pass with any of those Bullseye turbos? And posted here? NOPE. So far, the only #'s we have PROOF of, are 282whp and 296whp. Both at 19psi. Not quite enough for 11's. The turbos we have been mentioning so far, mainly the FP Green, has a very proven track record. Yes, it's been out for 4 yrs now, the Bullseye units for barely 4 months. But...there are parts of the country that have tracks open year round. Too bad some of the vendors couldn't get any test #'s for those turbos. I guess that's up to you guys (the people that bought them) to provide test data.

So, qwkdsm2, when you hit the track, let us know what you run. If you run mid-hi 11's on pump gas, then we will gladly add your turbo to the list of contenders that can get the job done.

The 16G record is 11.39, in a gutted tin can (albiet on a sidemount). The record before that was in the 11.7x range. If you have a full weight car, and don't build the motor to the hilt, ANYTHING In the 11's is an accomplishment for the EVO 16G. 11's on pump shouldn't even be considered. But, if you can do it, god bless you. As for the external thing, look at the list of mods I gave you in my first reply. Save money elsewhere (don't need a built motor, get a stock block, don't need crower valvetrain, don't need cast SBR manifold). Hell, that's enough to buy FOUR external setups!! As for the price of a new Green, yes it's pricey. Yes, it's somewhat old school technology. But guess what? IT WORKS!!! Been proven over and over and over to "GET R DONE!" That is why I recommended a used one. Can find them for $7-800 all day long. If you live in OKC, talk to Andrei Mitine, the Russian. He might help you find one. He's got a 10 sec. dsm using a 50 trim and nitrous. Yes, the EVO III 16G MAY support close to 400whp, which is enough to power a DSM into the 11's. However, it won't do 400whp on pump gas, which is what you were specifically asking.

Andrei is also a dealer for FP, he also upgraded to a different turbo setup not to long ago, JR, his partner is the one running the green and went 11.8-11.9 on pump. and as far as guys around here running low 12's on the 14b, I only know of Andrei and JR in the flame car running 12.0 but that car is very very light. you should give them a call though, they can really help you a lot with the choices you can take

Ok so I might rethink my list of upgrades. I just want a motor that will hold up for a good amount of time with a good amount of domestic killing. I know several people that like andre and Jr, but I have heard from several people sayin how shady they are. I will not take my car to them for any kind of service or dyno time. NOSLO, thanks for all your input.
