Wow.. this is sounding like it's going to be a huge turnout, which is great! Who would've thought that so many DSM's were in the area? :hellyeah:

Does anyone else have a grill that they can bring? I don't think Rich's grill will suffice when it comes to feeding what sounds like 20-30 people.

So far I have 4 packs of Nathan's bigger-than-the-bun hotdogs. That comes out to 32 hotdogs total. Already bought the napkins and plates. Still need to buy the buns.

Guys we're expecting a huge turn out. So if you can bring any food items, plates, drinks or anything it'd be great. We want to make sure there is enough for everybody.

Might be the biggest DSM meet Miami has probably ever had.

We also need to decide on the where abouts for the DSM cruise.

Chris quit stressing to bring extra plates and food and what not, we all know you are poor and rely on us to feed you but calm down, haha j/k man.
Evos would be nice but it'll be nicer to have an all out dsm meet only for now. Next time the evos should be in.

I'd rather have this be a DSM-only meet. No offense to other Mitsubishis, but I want to get to know more of the DSM community first.

There's a Mitsu meet at Markham Park on Saturday, May 23rd. I most likely will be going since my boyfriend and his turbo Galant buddies are planning to go.

Here's the link: SFL BBQ MEMORIAL MEET 09 - Mitusbishi Owners of Florida

We should get as many DSM owners as we can to go to that meet!

While evo's are nice, and we won't say no to any evo's that want to come by, but we want to try to keep this as DSM oriented as possible. Theres actually a ton of evo's down here in Miami and seen a bunch of evo meets down here happening very frequently and in big numbers too. I've never seen as many DSM's as them.

So trying to get the most DSM's to tropical park is the goal here for the 29th. I'm not saying evo's are not welcome because you guys are if you want. But, DSM's are strongly encouraged. :)

thats cool i dont have an evo just know people that do. i think i will mike it on the 29th unless my car is not out of the shop by then.

March 29th guys! Pass it on to every DSMer you know! Bring friends, post in other DSM forums! Lets make it the biggest meet ever.

chrispy u know damn well that evos r the originals without evos wouldnt be no dsm DUMBASS!!!!!! wer do u think our motors came from evooo 3!!!!!
Hey hey hey! I never did once say that "Evo's are not welcome" at all. :p All evo owners are welcome. All I said is "DSM is strongly encouraged". I'm well aware of the evo being our brother. :p

thats true and i do think of evo's as a DSM
While they do have the same motor. They're technically not "DSM's" DSM = Diamond Star Motors which pretty much remained a production in the united states between Chrysler, Mitsubishi, and Eagle. They're kinda DSM,s but not. :p Evo was solely made from Mitsubishi, therefor has nothing to do with the DSM production.

By the way feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Just going by what I read. LOL

Incorrect.

Evos are NOT the original DSMs. Chrispy was correct. DSM was the acronym Diamond Star Motors - a joint venture between Mitsubishi (3 Diamond Logo) and Chrysler (Star logo). The main USA production plant was in Normal, Illinois. DSM existed from about 1989 to 1995 as a 50/50 partnership between the two companies. In '93 Mitsu bought out Chrysler's 50% share. For a time after that Mitsu continued to build "DSM" cars for Chrysler on a contractual basis , including the Eagle Talon and even the Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus but these are not considered "DSMs".

The 4G63T engine was designed by Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi makes cars and trucks for many worldwide markets (USA, Japan, Asia, Europe) and has their own naming and numbering system for its engine variants and families. "4" is for 4 cylinder, "G" is for gasoline, "6" corresponds with Mitsu's Sirius family of engines, "3" corresponds to the engine itself (each engine within the family is given a number, in this case 3 but which has nothing to do with capacity) and the optional "T" which means a turbo variant.

DSMs included the Eclipse, Plymouth Laser and Eagle Talon and included both turbo and non turbo engines. I think but am not positive the first gen DSM non-turbo cars used 4G63 engines and the later non turbo cars used 420A engines designed/mabufactured by Chrysler. The 4G63 was used in Lancers and some Galants and I think the first Lancer which used the nickname "Evo" was in 1990 or 1991. Eclipse's with 4G63Ts were in production by either 1989 or 1990.

While I want as many 1989 to 1999 DSMs and Eclipses at the meet, I have zero issues with Evos or any car with a 4G63 based engine (Galant VR4s). In fact if there are any still running in Miami a Starion or Conquest would be cool to see too.

the only thing with down south dsm's all u ever see is 2G'S WHICH IS COOL 2 but no 1 shows love 4 the 1Gs lets change that this time

Little bit of dsm rated-r ass for you guys, LOL.

Only a week and a half until the meet, which means we have to start planning for real!

So far we have...
SeaveeDSM :
bringing small grill, small cooler (big enough for 6 drinks), pack of 8 hotdogs, 8 bubba burgers, cheese, bread, bag of doritos, mustard, mayo, ketchup

gstfemme :
bringing 4 packs of hotdogs (32 hotdogs), hotdog buns, paper plates, napkins

Chrispy0530 :
bringing a couple 2L sodas, cups

Anybody else willing to bring more food & drinks/ice/cups? We have a lot of mouths to feed.

I don't live too far from Tropical Park so I'm running over initially to the meeting place early in my truck so I can fit and transport a couple of the larger picnic tables and the grill. Will then get a ride home from Chris or Luis or have the BallNChain (a/k/a wife) pick me up and come back to the meet in the Mitsu.

Since the last meet I've cleared a few more "to do" items on my list to get the car where I want it.

a) new carpet from Stock Interiors/ACC mats
b) new OEM 2G leather wrapped steering wheel
c) new scuff plates at the door thresholds
d) got my hands on a '99 OZ edition OEM white faced gauge cluster - major rare find from a boneyard!
e) installed red LED lighting from superbrightleds.com in the gauge cluster and all switches
f) new headliner, re-did the visors, reupholstered the leather with new leather on the driver's seat
g) Re-installed and correctly sealed the valve cover properly and fixed the minor oil leak from the prior rushed and botched VC and gasket install job.
h) installed my new Baer Track Claw big brakes up front - 13" rotors, dual caliper pistons and SST lines. Waiting any day delivery of my Powerlsots rear rotors. Those are still factory sized but should look better matched to the behemoth Baer's now up front.

Still pending if I have time between now and the meet: Boost to 20 PSI and retune with the DSMLINK for it :)

At the present 18 PSI level its quite quick but whats a couple more PSI between friends? :p

Wow, thanks Richard! What would we do without you? haha

Dang. You got a lot done since the last meet. My car is exactly the same...
