what material is the block for the 4g63? is it cast iron? i have a piece that broke that goes from the block to the tranny and when i push the clutch the tranny pulls away from the block and need to know what kind of material the block is so i can figure out what welder to be used....thanks

Yes they are cast iron. Which means it needs to be welded with nickel rod. I can't remember the number that denotes the rod but if you go to your local welding supply shop they should be able to help with finding the right rod. Depending on the size of the crack and its exact location it may help to bevel the edges of the crack and make several smaller passes vs one large pass. Also be sure and clean the hell out of it as any dirt and especially grease and grime will ruin the quality of the weld. The nickel rod can be really picky. Hope this helps
