I'd seen on here to get metal gaskets but I used an exhaust mani gasket that came in a gasket packet deal I had gotten online. After 2 weeks of barely any driving on my eclipse I ran into a exhaust manifold leak so I took it apart to find this...

    No pic.

But if it's one of the compressed graphite ones, theyre crap. Swap for a multi layer steel gasket, make sure your flanges aren't warped, and put it back together.

Not sure whether the gasket couldn't handle sealing or if something like oil inside of the motor might have caused rapid corrosion on the gaskets soft material.
What do you mean by flanges?

For some reason this site bugs my phone when I'm about to choose pictures to post here am I the only one ? I have hard time posting pictures.

Composite gaskets really work fine allot of times as they can conform to less than perfect surfaces better but they tend to settle, loose compression and then blow out.
If using a composite style gasket it's always a good idea to check the bolt torque after some heat cycling.
MLS gaskets don't settle, they can still leak though, and generally work best with very good surface finishing.

The oil didn't help anything for sure, but looks like it lost tq after heat cycling and blew out. Need to figure out that oil issue more importantly.

I'm not sure if the oil is coming from inside the head but my valve cover leaked and dripped oil onto my exhaust manifold, I looked for signs of oil but was seeing a faint trail back to the valves, I'm unsure whether the oil got sucked in, most likely since oil wouldn't circulate backwards from the valves right ?

If you have a straight edge, check the flatness of the manifold. If you don't, lay it on a flat surface (flattest one you can find), put a light behind it and look to see if light comes through.

You wouldn't want the stud to go deeper as it may block the oil passage. I'd recommend cleaning it and using thread sealer or rtv to seal the threads so it won't leak.

Unsure from the pics if the oil was coming from inside or sucked back in from the gasket. Good call on that stud tho @tk106

No wonder the threads inside where the stud goes had oil in it felt like it was too much oil to be honest. Just to make sure the site said the end bolts that are bigger on each bottom sides of the exhaust manifold wont fit so you need to drill or make bigger correct ?
