mesh grill material and mounting? [Merged 2-7]

i remembered seeing a type of grill somewhere that wasn't the traditional "wire mesh". It was more of a circular pattern cut really close together on some sheet metal. It's hard to explain, but anyone know what i'm talking about and where to get it?

I bought an Eclipse mesh grill kit from www.aceautogrill.com Their mesh is very thick and is a diamond design. Hope this helps.

i know what your talking about, ive seen it b4, on another car, im not sure where you get it, but be careful, the guy that had it, on a civic it was real thin and was all like bent and warped and wavy and just looked nasty. IF anyone can find it for u, make sure its thick and strong other wise ud just be wasting ur money and be kicking ur self in the head for it.

Know anyone with one of those 10 foot mesh satellite dishes that want to get rid of it. The mesh panels have small holes and those mesh panels are really strong. Thats what I use on the front of mine, painted body color.

10 foot mesh satallite dishes? can you elaborate, i don't know what it is you're trying to explain?

he means the old school TV satellite dishes, before direcTV and all that. You basically had to aim it at the various satellites. Straight 80s style. If you can find one you can cut sections out of it to fit and use it as mesh grill, it typically has tiny holes not diamonds.

The local hardware store near my house sells 36"x36" sheet of perforated aluminum (in the plexi-glass/glass area of the store). I'm not sure how to describe it other than it looks like something used on the bottom part of a screen door. It was pretty thin but probably strong enough to work. The holes were about 1/8" diameter and were in sort of star/flower shaped patterns (again, hard to explain). But it was $14.00 per sheet.

However, just a few rows over was some brite aluminum gutter gaurd meshing. It was only $8.00 for a package of 5 36"x9" sheets and looked just like the stuff use by the professional customizers. I simply cut it to fit in the opening and secured it using the four foglight screws (96 Talon). I also epoxy'd some into the small openings on either side of the fascia. Wish I had some pics because it turned out really well.

My buddy also has a gen 2 and he put some "gutter guards" in as a mesh grill. his car is black and he got some white guards. I know its something kinda cheap and stupid but I think it looks badass, and i was wondering if anyone else has seen them or has an opinion?

How do you guys with your custom grilles keep yours held on??? I need to make one for the back of my car, and one for the front... bother for the bumpers, but how did you guys make yours stay on and hide the bolts so it looks purdy...

Jeeze, brute strength? You making your grilles out of sewer drain grating?

Another way to attach it is with epoxy putty pushed through the grille material onto roughened-up areas on the back of the bumper.

I am getting ready to have my Blitz kit painted. I have it installed right now for test fitment. I was wondering what kind and what pattern mesh you guys are using. I bought some off ebay, its a weird shaped pattern and I'm wondering if you guys are using a diamond shape mesh or some other shape. Where do you guys get your mesh? If you have some pics you can send me I would appreciate it, especially in the Blitz high side skirts. Thanks!

best thing to do in my oppinion is find yourself an industrial supply warehouse...ask them to look at there industrial valve strainer mesh material....it comes in large sheets and isnt to expensive...but there are many diffrent types available and it looks 1000 times better then what i have seen being used on most body kits....this stuff is made of stainless wire and has a very high quality look to it...you can get it in all types of patterns and sizes

worked good IMO. hard to see the exact diamond shape in the pic i posted... but i think it turned out nicely. 4 years, no sign of deterioration of any kind

Masakari... that is some funny crap! I live in this tiny farm town in the middle of no-where. It just so happens Wayne Wire has or shall I say had two plants here. There air bag division just moved accross state but there main division is still here and I have family that works there. I know that they use a type of screen for the car air bag components that they make. I never would have thought of them. Maybe I'll check it out. I'm mind blown by that. yeah, thats pretty wild...it took me awhile to dig up a site that actually had a pic of what i was talkign about...but hey, if they are close to you then you shouldnt have a problem finding some good looking mesh for your grill!
