I've scanned through tons of posts about fans overheating. I've heard recommendations for various fans, but need more detailed input. I'm running a T04B thats melted 3 AC fans. I want a direct fit replacement with METAL blades. Whats out there that will work. I've seen flex lite but dont know if they are metal or not.

I've ran with no A/C fan for a summer with no ill effects, however I decided to mount a 10" slimline in front of the A/C condensor blowing air through that to the radiator. That way its away from the heat of the turbo/mani/wastegate and you still have air flowing through your cores.

Are you having overheating problems, or just looking for a fan to put there?

Same thing just happened too me, mine isnt overheating or anything and runs fine but i'll have to replace it soon

I'm incorrect with my comment. I am not overheating, but my EGT's are around 1450 to 1475 at 80 mph. My turbotimer is set at 35 seconds. Over a series of heat cycle my AC fan begins to blister and eventually melts. I not once experienced an overheating, but the lack of a heat shield obviously is the culprit. Even with the heat shield I had experience my fans melting. I blame the lack of air flow from the FMIC as the cause. But a large turbo, no shield, and the FMIC is my guess to the problem. What I need to know is if the flexi-lite or SPAL fans made of metal? Does anyone know of a fan that fits the stock location that can offer that can handle high temp?

1) Running without heatshields will kill any fan. Put them back on, or fab up a set if you don't have them any more. Both upper and lower. Even if the blades don't melt on a metal fan, you'll fuse the motor wrappings sooner or later.

2) 35 seconds is painfully short. Usually I leave mine set to 3 minutes, or drop it down to 1 minute if I've just been lightly cruising around town. I'll go up to 10 minutes after a hard, extended 'track' run, as that's how long the exhaust housing keeps glowing for. And that's only with an MHI B16G, WITH the oil/water cooled spool. Unless I'm mistaken, yours is an oil-only spool, which necessitates a longer cooldown period.. both to prevent coking, AND to give the metal time to cool off.

Where can I go to get fab material. I dont have access to sheet aluminum. My turbo is water cooled. Running the new lines were pure hell.
