WTF AC Fan Melting???

Well my AC fan is like melted. Has anyone had any similar problems? My main fan is also not working right now but I don't think that would have anything to do with the fan melting. Any help is appreciated.

It can happen. Did you pull the heat shield off your car or did you use a different exhaust manifold? Next time you might try letting the car cool for a while after long runs. Turn off the engine but let the fans run some of the extra heat out.

But why do they do that actually? Do people remove the lower heat shield? Or is it just running the car it gets a little hot hot hot?

I'm running the 3" ATR O2 housing so my lower heatshield had to go. I'm going to replace it anyway but I was wondering if I could find out why it was doing this in the first place.

ya no shield is a big cause. higher boost = more heet also. upgraded turbo and or o2 housing puts it closer to the fan.

My fan melted even the heatshield on. I'll let cool down and everything, I guess it just got too hot

It's too hot, too close. Not really much to figure out about it.

Okay, so is there a solution to this besides continous replacement of fan blades?

There are two obvious solutions. Get some heat shielding back in place, or replace the fans with ones that are more resistant to heat (like SPAL fans). The former solution is more ideal as the heat just isn't an great thing to have building in the engine bay.
