Megasquirt help! Coil trigger input??

Hey guys, so I am building a megasquirt 3 with the expansion board. I am about to solder in the capacitors. But it says that if I am using a coil trigger input to do certain steps and if I am not using the coil trigger input (fuel only) that I should do certain things. It says the using the coil trigger input is rare. But then it says that you CANNOT trigger from coil negative if you are trying to run ignition or sequential fuel. I don't know what this is asking so I don't want to go any further without knowing. I am so lost haha. Can anyone explain this to me? I want to run fuel control for a little while till i get more mods on my car and then I want to run ignition with the megasquirt. Thanks for all the support.

What step number are you looking at in the manual? You are using the v3.0 instructions correct? I built mine 2 years ago so I am a little rusty on what step your on.

Ok yea. You want to put all of them in except for C30. You want to follow this for your crank decoder and ignition set up. For the stock coil pack you will only use spark A and B. I used the ignition output for spark A and then SPR2 for spark B.

Okay. Do I need to put C30 in the H1 spot?

No C30 is an 'extra' part depending on how you build the board.

The 420A page in the manual includes everything you need to know for the ignition input, but the output is covered here. You will need a 2nd ignition driver if you don't already have one:
