mbc problems/ pix inside

ok heres the deal, yesterday i recieved this specific mbc from dynasty auto. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/B-TU...0QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

so i hooked it up as shown inthe pictures with the bottom line running to the waste gate actuator, and the top line running to the t fitting that came with the kit.

after installing everything i set the mbc to its lowest setting and took it on a run. i hit 8 psi according to my boost gauge. i pulled over, turned it up, ran again and hit the same. so i turned it all the way up. yet again i hit 8 psi. there has to be something rong here because stock i was running 12 psi. so i switched the hoses around on the mbc and got the same result. i double and triple check my installation and it is correct. ### is goin on??

I thought if it was hooked up backwards it would see an unlimited amount of boost? (atleastt hats how my MBC was..)
With my MBC I had the same problem, I opened it up and turns out the spring was side ways... i just put it the way it was supposed to ( according to images of the home made ones i found online) and it works ( I Think.. i got a massive boost leak that wont let me go past 12 PSI)
Any ways mine is a different style boost controller (the home made lokoing ones..)
so this may not help you at all....
 
no cause it consistanly runs at 8 n it runs the same everytime. ussualy wen you have a boost leak its really inconsistant and you get boost spike
 
well, for one, don't t into the bov line. The bov needs a dedicated line. Use the nipple on the T2small, or the one on your LICP. Verify that the controller is positioned properly. Also, remmber, the shorter the lines, the better the boost response.

Check all that, and tell us if anything changes
 
mk ill try that, but i just went of instructions that i found on here, thats y i t'd into the bov line

In your case the hose from the wastegate act. should go to the MBC on the bottom nipple market "<-" I think..not 100% sure but you only got 2 options :D
The 'T' should be conn on the hose from the BOV on one side- then on the other side of the T you conn the hose that goes to the Intake.( same hose as the BOV just you cut it 1st) then your bottom of the "T" you connect the other MBC port!
I don't know if I could explain it better then this!!

Re-mount the mbc on the radiator fan mount, connect the fitting from the compressor housing to the lower mbc fitting with arrow, connect the upper mbc fitting to the actuator. Keep the lines as short as possible, replace the BOV line with a new hose going directly to the intake manifold.

Is this a ball and spring type mbc?
 
Because you're T-ing off the BOV line which gets its signal from the IM, you're controlling your compressor output pressure from way far away in the IM (the air has to go from the compressor outlet, through the LICP, SMIC, UICP, and ***THROTTLE*** before it gets to the intake manifold, so the signal is delayed and could be way off if the throttle is partially closed or if you have boost leaks). The MBC is supposed to control boost, so it should be getting its signal from as close to the boost producer (compressor) as possible. Listen to oldman on this one and re"wire" your MBC straight from the compressor outlet nipple to the MBC "arrow" nipple, then from the MBC output to the WG solenoid. The arrow is there because your MBC is "hiding" the boost signal from your WG when the boost is lower than what you want, but when it hits the desired level of boost, it opens and lets the pressure signal travel on to the WG solenoid in the direction of that arrow, so the air is moving in the direction of the arrow toward your WG when the MBC opens. When it is closed, no air is moving through those vaccuum lines.

So rewire your MBC correctly and replace the stock BOV with a 1g BOV or an EVO BOV (it's a bolt-on, whereas the 1g BOV needs an adapter to mate to the stock UICP). If you plan to upgrade your stock UICP (you should!!), then get a 1g BOV and adapter to save money in the long run (aftermarket UICP will not have a flange option for the stock BOV nor the EVO BOV). The BOV upgrade is important!! It can only hold 12psi before it leaks, so you won't be able to boost past this until it is upgraded.
 
thanx, im pretty sure what you said worked, cant really tell tho cause i had it all the way shut n i pulled 12-13, the opened it bout half way to see what would happen and got bout 10?? was i supose to use that t fitting that came w/ the bov??

You shouldn't need a T-fitting. One line going from the compressor outlet nipple to the MBC inlet (with arrow). One line going from the MBC outlet (no arrow) to the wastegate solenoid nipple.
 
:cry: Did you even read the thread at all? Don't tap the BOV line!!!!! Yes, I'm saying Hallman is wrong on this particular subject.

If its a ball-spring MBC that means it is working. Less tension on the spring would lower the boost.
 
Okay, you guys are all wrong. This isn't a normal MBC that's something called a "GATED" MBC and is a completely different design than the normal MBC you are all suggesting him hook it up like.

That is not a vaccuum line T that he has it's the actual thing that regulates the boost. I have one of these and I have no idea how to hook it up.. I can't get it to work in any of the 25 ways I hooked it up. It's designed to be mounted inside of the cab but won't work that way either.

It's a 100% rip off of the turbosmart in-cabin boost controller that they sell on their website and the directions should be the same for the install but they don't work.

If anyone has one of these exact models please post a diagram of how YOU hooked it up. I've seen like 5 variations so far on these forums and none of them have worked, all were SAID to have worked but they are all completely different LOL

Than it is just a ball-spring type MBC as I mentioned. Boost reference to the bottom port, top port to wastegate. If it doesn't work then there is a failure of some kind, either with the MBC or the car.

Also, use short tubing. Try this setup again before calling the MBC a rip-off. It could be defective, but that's different than a rip-off.
