so what does MB572253 do?

It's the timer unit for the defogger.

i tired googling it but was getting mixed answers

I just looked it up in ASA to figure out what the part was for.

It is the relay that turns on the rear window defog unit. If you look on your back glass you will see small lines (heating elements) that run horizontal across the glass. When you press the button, voltage is fed thru the relay to those heating elements, heating up the rear window.
